Talking MPH Magazine Review

Once again another great review by another mag. No test numbers, but a solid review. I didn't buy the mag, but it's in there on page 38 I think. Check it out if you get the chance.

ok...I went over and bought the mag. Who can host the pics? They're already scanned and ready to be posted. Let me know who wants to host them.... oh, by the way, they're 1/4 miles numbers were 14.6 at 98 mph by the way and 0-60 in 6.1 sec

Great article on the cobalt. However i didnt see any reason to dis the cavalier like that. he made it sound as if the cavalier was the bane of hell. I own one and it has always been god to me. that bash is rediculouse.

AHAHAHAHAH.... sorry guys, but that article pretty much summed up the thoughts of most non j-body owners.

... mind you as an n-body owner I sit almost as low on the food chain

I really believe that Motortrend is the only magazine that actually drove the car. These other magazines are using photos we had for months!

yeah sorry guys.....I just read the review and was impressed once more. Three articles, all giving good reviews and no offence, but my ex girlfriend's car was a 2001 base cavalier and that was the biggest piece of **** ever. That car basically turned me away from ever buying a chevy until this whole new "American Revolution" happened where it seems like they are trying to improve their vehicles, much like Ford is trying to as well. I went to the Washington Auto Show and saw this car and I was impressed about how quality everything appeared, totally contradicting my thoughts of Chevy all together. The interior of this car as well as the exterior tops of the cavalier by 200% hands down, not to say that cavaliers ever left people stranded. That was just the impression it had on me.

Hahahahaha... I've bought three new j-bodies since 1994. I am such a tool

God dammit. GM owes me. If the Cobalt SS SC is half the car I think it's going to be though, then we'll be sqare

EDIT - Just wanted to add that I didn't mean to offend any fellow j-body owners. I really do not think I'm a tool. Some may argue that though

they say the cavelier was slow...... slow compared to what? they started at 92hp and climbed up to 150, compared to what japan offered at the time - from 70 all the way up to 127 hp. wow.

I know all too well about the shortcomings of these cars, acceleration is definately NOT one of them..... it's a goddamn economy car people, they aren't meant to hit 14's.

My J has never left me stranded, nor is it slow, at least compared to a Civic or Corolla. Yeah, the interior isn't great, but it drives well. Even the base J bodies pre-eco had similar power numbers to japanese equvilents. It's the torque that counts for everyday driving. Civic and Corolla don't have it, J's do. A Civic was my first car, and I have driven my friends base J and my mom's 3speed auto J body, and both had more power than a Civic.

I do agree, however, that it is time for the J to be put out to pasture, 20 years is a long time for a platform to be produced.

At least car mags are giving good reviews to an american small car, usually they can be biased, if it's American, it's automatically inferior to Japanese to them when it comes to small cars.

All I have to say is, drive a j-body around a corner and you'll know what they are talking about.

QUOTE the performance package comes with recaro seats and a Quaife (that's Quaife, not the other thing, you scumbag) /QUOTE

That made reading that J bashing article worth reading.... hahaha... Quefe, Quiffe, Quaife whatever.
i wonder if the actually tested the car to get those times, i think the estimated.

LOL that article had a bit of a different flavour then most you read in car mags!

Nice that it was a positive review though... as for the numbers... I don't know if you can ever trust anything other that real quarter mile runs. Most magazines use either G-tech type equiptment or GPS/radar, and not real quarter mile timing systems. So they think the Cobalt will run a mid-14 is all I'm taking out of that. There's too many crazy numbers floating around to know for sure.

man i want a cobalt SS realllllllllllly badly!!!!! however... my 99 cavi Z24 i love, got loads of pep, i can smoke the tires into 3rd gear, damn good looks, and it handles well around corners too. yes it was time for chevy to move on, if they would have released the cobalt as a updated cavi, it would have went over like a lead baloon. people would put up a fit over the "price increase" that was needed to make this better car. FU mph for the cavi bash, but ty for the nice artical on the cobalt

yes i agree with jonel, motortrend in my opinion is the only real test all others are fake. just by the way its written. and the writer emphasized more on the cavalier than the cobalt. they basically rewrote everything chevy had said about the cobalt being better then the cavalier.

oh and he obviously never drove a cavalier z24 with the 2.4 TC. will out run, in the 1/4 mile, any Civic SI and GSR Integra bone stock. got to love torque.

Yeah that was kind of messed up to bash the cavy in a cobalt article... I had an 87' chevy cavy that went unitl over 300,000 miles! and I'm driving a 2002 cavy right now ( not eco) and it moves fast compared to similar japanese cars and all I have is an intake exaust system...

i dont completely agree with the article's cavy smack. I own a 98 cavalier. I think chevy just didnt relize it's competition untill too late. the forign small car market rose unsuspectingly high and saked chevy. So then they made the cobalt for the next heat and it appears they are keeping up with the other athleats.
In my opinion the cobalt probably should have been put out in 2000. In the year 2000, the economy was strong and cavaliers were selling at "almost sticker price". then after that, the cavaliers wernt selling and the incentives increased.
