205/60/16 won't fit SS/SC?!?!?

Help. I have 205/60/16 Dunlop Winter Sport 3Ds. I just went in to have them put on, and they wouldn't put them on, since they said there wasn't enough room between the tire and the wheel well.

I did a lot of research, and everything I found said they will fit...

I don't even know what to do know. Contact the place I bought them from?

ARGH.

---------

UPDATE
So, yesterday my dad and my friends put them on themselves...

I'm able to turn the wheel, and nothing rubs. I was driving around an empty parking lot during circles while my friend was watching, and everything looks fine.

whoever told you that needs a beating.

i have that exact size tire on my car right now.

and it is the closest possible match to stock for a 16 inch tire.

i have 55/16's and it looks like there's some extra space. the winter wheels are bigger than my 18's. why don't you just put them on yourself?

We are going to put them on ourselves tonight, and see how it looks... We just took them in since it would probably be quicker, and hopefully easier. They were only going to charge $6, so why not?

an0malous - How much room do you have between the tire and the wall or whatever??

The only thing I can think of... I bought my car used... In looking in some picture of it right now, it almost looks like it was lowered or something. Could that be it??

about exactly the same as stock

circumference of stock tire: 80.45 inches
circumference of 205/60/16: 80.67 inches

very handy site for tire calcs.

circumference of 215/55/16: 79.51

nothin wrong with that. but the 205/60/16 is a tiny bit closer

thinner tires with more sidewall are better in winter too.

^^ Beat me to it.

215/55/16 Circumference: 79.51 in
205/60/16 Circumference: 80.67 in
circumference of stock tire: 80.45 inches

Pretty much same thing, but 205/60/16 keeps the speedo more accurate.

i have those winter tires on my balt, after the tread wore down more, the tires hit the wheel well when turning and mess up the side skirt edge that is inside the wheel well. and it also tore up the center of the tire making it look like over inflation wear when they arent over inflated, i have 'em at about 25 psi

yes, even if you dont plan on going 140 you still need to stay within the speed rating for your car...Tread life wont be as long otherwise...HR is fine...as long as its not Q or something low....

Do what I did. Go buy a beater 94 civic for $500. It costs less than (performance) winter tires and you wont get your pretty balt all shitted up.

If they're the same as the M3's it's 136mph, not bad for winters

As soon as the snow tires get home, I'll get some pics with them on the car. They are still in my dad's truck, and he's at work. I think they will be ok... I need to get it figured out asap, since I go back to college on Monday.

Kick him in the nuts and tell him that was for being stupid I've had 205/60/16 blizzaks for 2 winters and it rubs nothing! He saw the gap you have there and said it wouldn't fit??? You could shove a bus in there

just make sure the wheels (rims) are the correct offset

I'm running 215/50/17 for winter, so 205/60/16's should work fine
