hey guys, i know there was a mini discussion about the drop in k@n air filter but i already have one on order from Canadian Tire. Cost me $60 (Canadian of course) and i just want to know if the results will be similar to when a cone filter is installed. Do you still get the deeper hum under full throttle? and does it really give you better fuel economy? thanks for any imput and suggestions for other mods. :ca:

I was wondering the samething. I was gonna get a CAI but with winter just starting today (first snow) I am thinking about holding off until spring and just putting the K&N in.

Here's the deal for y'all.... I've had K&N drop-ins in the past.... they don't do much to increase power and nothing to sound. The only thing they are good for is a little increase in mileage, and never having to change them again. Seriously save your money and go for the Injen intake. It's a two piece deal so you can mount it as either a SRI (all under the hood, protected from weather) or run full CAI when conditions are good.
If you don't want to "mod" the car and just want a worry free filter that might give you better mileage or power, I say go with the drop-in.... otherwise save your money over the holidays and get a real intake.

I have a drop in for about 2 weeks now and love it. No it doesn't change the sound that much, only a little. A little better throttleresponse, only a little. Yes does give better gas milage on the highway( noticed 1-3 miles better at speed limit). I got one and will put a intake on at a later time. I know this is redondant but drop in will not void warrenty and for me that is a major issue. I know there are ways around it, but for me I do not need to void that warrenty on a brand new car right away. Hope this helps. I think I payed $40 shipped american from one of the dealers on K&N website, it took a few days to get!
