Question which brake pads are safer?

which pads are safer to use on a set of normal non-drilled/non'slotted rotors?

the ebc green stuff or the hawk performance ceramic pads?

i've heard that buying ceramic pads for normal rotors can grind them, is that true? if thats the case should i just go with the normal hawk performance HPS pads?

I ask cuz i FINALLY decided on my rotors. i'll be going to autozone and picking up the duralast rotors for about 25 a piece. i know they arent drilled and slotted or even just drilled, but i figure that is no point in me breaking down and spending +$100 on a set of performance rotors when i really dont need them. the rotors have great reviews and they come with a 2 yr warrenty.

duralast is okay, but if you have an ss/sc, id get either factory parts or atleast factory rotors, autozone rotors tend to warp easily. i use raybestos pads on my junk. just my $.02

i drive a 2.2. the raybestos rotors from advance auto are my second choice. are they better than the duralast rotors?

never heard of either brand of rotors, but just make SURE they're good. there's a few things you don't want to cheap out on, and your ability to stop is one of them.

well, its two harder friction materials, im sure its louder than normal pads and rotors, ive drive srt 8s with composite sloted rotors and brembo pads, and they were quiet.

Ceramics are harder, but its not like it matters, pad life is a little more than average, I usually get about 50- 60,000 KM out of a set of ceramic pads on an auto vs the usual 40,000.

The benefits of ceramics are they are much quieter, practically impossible to squeal and dust off much much less which is way nicer on your rims. Whether or not they are harder doesn't play a factor as truthfully today you shouldn't be trying to reuse old rotors and just do pads swaps. It can add up to 50 feet or more when trying to do an emergency stop and the cost of machining is usually the same as the new rotors.

Right now the best non-performance Ceramic pad is the Wagner Edge or Bendix Quiets. I have tried a few sets of AC Delco ceramics on a few customers cars and had back luck. As for rotors, almost any rotor will do, just make sure its made the same way as the original one was made, sometimes the cheaper ones are cast differently and they don't fit quite right.

I guess I should also add all we use is Ceramic now, way nicer than semi-metallic or the old organics.
