Ok so i was coming home from work found out i was on E... go home change do all that when my girl called and asked if i could come get her cuz shes not feeling to well, so i drive down the road to a exxon gas station... Now i usually always put in my car shell 93 but this was closest so i put 10 dollars in...

Pick her up, on the drive home had this woman blaring her music while me and my girl were just talking... So i put my music up all the way and light turns green and i rev up to i say 5-6 grand it comes back to idle and it just goes to about 100-200 rpms and it shuts off on me!!!!!

Now i tried to restart it but it took a few minutes and then went right back to normal...This was right in the middle of an intersection disrupting traffic and all

NEWAY HELP ME OUT, WHATS WRONG WITH MY CAR

My never shuts down but she seems like she wants to. It'll go all the way somewhere around 400rpm but then revive itsself. Is something wrong? should i have it checked

It's most likely the crank sensor, not the piston. Just said that as a joke.

It's happened to me twice, almost a third today but the car didn't shut off for some odd reason.

... Mine shut off due to a faulty fuel pump connector, just a few weeks after I picked it up.
Died, waited, fired back up about 15 minutes later.... might be worth checking if all else fails.

mine did this samething to me only i was on the interstate getting of when i down shifted to third to slow down it just died. tried to start it several times would start. Let it sit for about 15min. and it started ran fine. I wander if the crank sensor over heats or miss reads. mine also sometimes will drop down to 400rpm and putter for a split second then run fine.

Sometimes when I pull up to a light and stop, the RPM's dip down, revive, dip down, revive and does this for 10 -15 seconds and then levels off and idles normally. Any suggections as to what it might be??

Crappy factory tune. Stage tune usually fixes that.

Mine shut off on me after getting my custom 3in exhaust. i accelerated hard and the car shut off on me. i was stalled out at an intersection and had to push it to a gas station and wait about 5 minutes before it would start back up. i took it in to my dealer and they fixed it in a few hours and said I had a faulty connection from my stock pcm. it was all covered under waranty. if your car is under waranty go get it checked out.

I was making a right on red and saw an suv coming, it seemed to be cruising slow enough for my to jump out in front of (I was in a hurry) so i jumped out and the car died off. It never did tht before and I paniced bc I just jumped out in front of an oncoming car. Luckily the guy noticed my lights shut off (it was at night) and he swervered around me, giving me time to turn the car back on. It was normal after tht! My buddy said it mighta been bc we were messing with the headlights and the car had a surge or something,l but he said its happened before in his mustang and he has yet to figure it out.

you think i need to hide shit to sell my car??? Shows how honest of a person you are, im not affraid to tell people that the car is normal just like everyone elses stage 2 problems.... But the car runs perfect, it is normal for a stage 2 tune to have idling issues and that was the case here....

if u have a cai on ur car put the stock 1 back on and take the battery cable off of it for about 5 mins and then start her up and she should run fine... i was in 3rd gear wen i had my cai on and it just started to break up and died on the turpike... and started back up took a couple seconds... put i got home and changed it back to stock intake and runs awsome again

I had the same issue with my '06 SS/SC. I took it to the dealer cause it died like 4 times on the way to the store. They "shocked the ECU" and said if it happens again to bring it back up to them. It's been about a year now and NO problems since then.

i told my car it was going to do a 100 in a school zone and it shut off before i could punch it.... never shut off since... although i do 25 in school zones now.

i had mine die on me. i thought maybe i stalled it, but never felt it. i was sitting at a light, rev to 1500, start to let clutch out (maybe moved 6") when i saw my gauges peg out then die. car fired right back up, but the warning lights and fuel gauge seem to take a long time to return to normal.

although after that incident, it seems to run better. but ive got a 2.2. wondering if this is a problem across all the engines seeing as my mom had problems with hers (2.4) and my friend with his redline have had similar issues.

The idle surge doesnt just happen to you boys with SS Cobalts, my lowly LT does it too. I think the mass air flow sensor maybe dirty. As far as just shutting down, well it seems these Cobalts all have some little grimlins lurking inside them, and the only way to rid yourself of them is to set the car a blaze and stand by with a 12 gauge shot gun and blast the little turds as they run from the vehicle. Or you could just sell it like I plan to do and buy something else. Consumer reports follow their recommendations I will.

I had this happen to me too, but it was in the dead of winter coming back home from work. I was slowing down at a stop sign and my car died, only thing was the engine shut off. I put on my hazards and started her back up, she was fine after that. And then I did an oil change and gave her premium full synth oil.

lol, I have no idea what was wrong and I don't really wanna find out.
