View Full Version : Best Stock Ss/sc Times???
hatrickstu 11-27-2005, 12:14 AM Ok so i went to the track again tonight. Alright all i did to my car was chop off the muffler and put on a flowmaster 40 series, so no it isnt completely stock, but i dont think the muffler did a single thing but make it louder. Anyways, the temp was in the 50's and it rained earier, and i believe this is some of the best times a near stock ss will see...
Only a 1000' foot track, and this run was against my dad's 2005 supercharged grand prix...

Chevypowered 11-27-2005, 12:23 AM That is a good time. I saw a 9.2 something somewhere around here.
helty 11-27-2005, 12:45 AM it was good to see you get into the 11s man. very impressive times, and you can drive the hell outta that car. i only ran once and it was only my 4th run ever, but im satisfied. need to get some DRs to get the car to hook. get my 60' down and maybe break into the 8s in the 1/8 and low 11s in the 1000ft next spring. good to see you out there tonight. take it easy man
heres my slip. im in the right lane.

haha, the red gt. the guy you met last night with jason. guess i never did tell you what i drive. i dont know if he told you but i dont street race....much. if the queen caught me doing it she'd castrate me.
after my first run i rode with jason against the mach twice, then the rain came. kinda wish i wouldve made a few more runs to work on my R/T and get my 60' down. oh well, they open back up in two months. if you get that vid or our first race up let me know, i'd appreciate if you could send it to me. hope to see you around.
hatrickstu 11-27-2005, 01:50 AM hey yeah man, i just didnt know who you were, the vids are on VHS-C, so if you know any way to get those onto a computer i would be ecstatic...
SOMEBODY ELSE LEAVE SOME COMMENTS!!!
jasonh_86 11-27-2005, 01:56 AM man, that's awesome you hit 11's tonight! I knew your car had it in it Stu.. You too helty, that was a dang close race!! Me and carolyn were like "wwhoooaaaaa!!" the whole time down the track! haha

05_Blue_B10WN_SS 11-27-2005, 02:25 AM whats up with the 1000 ft ets? You guys dont run 1/4 Mile's out there?
I dunno about your times, best stock times ive seen so far are a 14.98 and 14.50.
Um my best 1000ft would be 12.1
no one really goes by 1000ft times, only 1/4 mile ET and MPH.
I have seen a few people post 1/8 mile times...
Dunno.
Black99xtreme 11-27-2005, 02:37 AM This is the closest track . a 1/4 mile track is too far off to drive...
helty 11-27-2005, 02:38 AM arkansas doesnt have a 1/4 track. just 1/8 and 1000ft. the nearest 1/4 is memphis i think. its what weve got, so we use it and have fun. hoping to take a weekend in the spring and head to a 1/4 track out of state. we'd lilke to get a big meet going, but we'll see

you can gauge the 1/4 off the 1000 man, mine was probably around a 14.3 1/4, yea?
helty 11-27-2005, 02:42 AM you can gauge the 1/4 off the 1000 man, mine was probably around a 14.3 1/4, yea?
its not an exact science, but on average, for cars like ours (ss/sc, srt's, GTs, LS1s) add about 2.0-2.5 seconds to your 1000ft and you have a rough guesstimate of your 1/4 time. again its not exact, but gives you a general idea of where you're at.
ralliartist 11-27-2005, 02:53 AM sweet times. i've never been to a 1000ft. track.
jasonh_86 11-27-2005, 02:56 AM 1000ft track is wierd, indeed!.. i'd love to go to a 1/4 track sometime tho
hatrickstu 11-27-2005, 03:43 AM so is there a quicker ss/sc yet without the psi-fi kit or any major mods?
helty 11-28-2005, 01:07 AM ttt. site seems busier tonight. c'mon, anyone have some comparable times?
here they are again....

helty 11-28-2005, 01:48 AM just to play devils advocate.....
that 11.15 run was against a 97LT1 w/ heads, longtubes, cam, and gears.
anyway, does anyone else have time slips for a stock or near stock...hell even a modded SS/SC for that matter? cause i really think i this guy is one of the better ss/sc drivers out there.
jasonh_86 11-28-2005, 01:52 AM DAMN 11.15!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah :) That's the timeslip i showed you the other night.. makes me proud haha
I agree with you helty,he can drive like a MOFO! Gotta give him props for driving the car damn good, not talking trash and being cool! :twothumbs Definately the only SS/SC owner I have respect for.

I remember watching that race.. that was a nice, quick car! That guy can drive, but he's got some improvement to do, imo :)

2006ArrivalBlueSS 11-29-2005, 12:03 AM Here's my slip. First time ever at a track (even as a spectator). Track temp was cool at about 10 degree Celcius (high 40 degree Farenheit). Bone stock with less than 5K km on the odometre (3125 miles)...I'm car # 184

hatrickstu 11-29-2005, 12:06 AM so you ran 14.6? its hard to read... what do you think about mine
2006ArrivalBlueSS 11-29-2005, 12:15 AM Yep, 14.6. I think your time is awesome. I take it you've been to a track a few more times than I have. Nonethless, your numbers are very impressive. :cssNET:
hatrickstu 11-29-2005, 12:51 AM i have made 8 runs total i think, i am starting to get quite consistent though

Yep, you've definately got some driving skills. Taking that car that quick down the track :thumb:

what were you driving man???
BullDog71ss 11-29-2005, 12:35 PM My best is in my sig. It was done with the K&N CAI and the Carbon fiber hood (as if that could even be considered a modification.) I need to go to speedworld to see about some better times. The best 60' I can pull off is a high 2.3, Firebird sucks on test/tune nights.
brentlg81 12-04-2005, 01:13 PM Down here in San Diego we don't have a 1/4 mile track either, only two 1/8 mile tracks. A good way to estimate your 1/4 mile time is to take your 1/8 mile time and multiply by 1.52 (it's normally ~1.555, but for the cobalt, 1.52 seems to be pretty accurate). It's not exact, just an estimate.
Who ran that 8.7 1/8mile run? Very impressive! What mods?
er wait... was it the other side of the slip (9.0) that was the cobalt?
junior 12-04-2005, 08:40 PM my time is in realy cold days 7 degré
entry 69 (realy good number )
tree speed .500
dial in 0.00
reaction .510
mph2 100.35

my english is realy bad

what are you talking about
R33P3R007 12-04-2005, 09:40 PM how would 1/8 and 100ft transfer to 1/4... would we have any way off calculating it.
R33P3R007 12-04-2005, 09:41 PM 1/4 Mile 14.52 @ 98.89mph Stock.

According to that i would have run a 14.27 1/4

That's around what I'd expect a Cobalt SS SC to do with a perfect run considering they generally have high trap speeds. Sometimes it depends on the track. I race a supra with drag radials pretty often on the two tracks here in San Diego and I get completely different traction on both. On one I get ~2.3 60ft. and the other I get ~2.0 60ft :/ But anyway, it looks like you really got that car down. Congrats man :twothumbs

Are you the one who raced the Supra in that video on streetfire?

Unfortunately, no :( I haven't submitted anything to that site.
KismySS05 12-04-2005, 11:05 PM i ran a 14.7389 with just a pipe, no catback exhaust, anyone else from ohio
what are you talking about
Someone posted a timeslip w/ an 1/8th mile ET of 8.7x, was that the Cobalt's time or was it another car?
helty 12-05-2005, 01:51 AM Someone posted a timeslip w/ an 1/8th mile ET of 8.7x, was that the Cobalt's time or was it another car?
that was a cough, cough,....Mustang GT. cough. what a POS huh? :)
side note: God please dont start a Mustang vs. SS/SC thing. its been beat to death and ive only been here for two weeks. im just joking around with some of the other members :twothumbs
Oh, haha, that's funny I was like OMG someone ran that in a CSS? what are the mods!?
Who ran that? Hehe, here's my 1/8 mile time slip from my 98 GT:
http://img234.imageshack.us/img234/6995/untitled17sk.jpg
The cool thing was this is only w/ boltons and bald BFG's on draglites....the car didn't even make 200rwhp at that time lol!
helty 12-05-2005, 02:48 AM thats a damn good run for a 98. how modded was it? mild, most bolt-ons? impressive. ever run it on a 1000ft or 1/4 track?
the guy that ran the 8.7x got bant for pushing the wrong buttons of somemembers. he's a good guy, just took a lot of what gets said about mustangs on here personal and wasn't afraid to shoot back when someone called BS on him. just took it a little* too far, haha.

At the time it had 4.10 gears, MAC O/R X-pipe, welded in SLP resonators w/ dumps and a pro 5.0 shifter. I took out the spare, removed the sway bar and had the BFG's @ 12psi. I ran @ HRP 1/4 track and ran a 13.6 (timeslip from another post). After all the work I put into it after that I could get her mid 12's all motor w/ some light weight reduction.
Yeah, sucks when people call BS w/o being open minded. That's why when I ran that 13.6 w/ those mods even the folks on Fordpower.net called BS, but I had the timeslip ;)...don't have my personal best or any 12 sec runs though :( I left them in the glove box when I sold my mustang. I do have the 1/8 mile runs w/ all the work done on the stang on video though.
