ZZP Shorty Or Mid-Length

Well ive decided what i want to do to my car and now the big question is do i go ZZP Shorty Header or ZZP Mid-length header, i only want well educated answers nothing like (omg well lots of people have mid-lenght so its musts bes betters).

currently i have a KN SRI intake.

i plan to get the header/downpipe then exhaust piping then cams

ive heard good and bad things about both shorty and midlength, i just want everyones well educated opinion about both products. and i know reign will have his 2 cents and i much value his opinion because he has owned both

thanks again cobaltss.net community!

the mid length will make your torque a little higher in the rpm's, however in my opinion the tires are too easy to spin in first anyway...

I dont know where so many people on this forum get the idea that shorties make more torque, just do a search on google, any reputable source will tell you that longer primaries shift the curve lower. also I believe the shorties are 1 5/8 and the midlength is either 1 1/2 or 1 3/4. Myself I would go with the midlength with 1 1/2 primaries, and I might be if I get in on the group buy, but I prefer more torque for daily driving. but like raven ss said it depends on where you want your power.

Im going to have to go against the grain here... and say shorty, my car felt so much better with the Shorty over the Mid-Length. Plus I had issues with noise level w/ my ML, where my shorty is almost stock, but still feel a gain...

I think that could possibly be due to the fact that torque is what your butt dyno works on.
its the force that you feel.
HP gain up top is not nearly as easy to "feel"

When i put my catless 3 inch downpipe on, there was a distinct feeling of powerloss.
but i gained 0.2 s in the 1/4 mile.

yes the stock catback is 2.5" until you get to the axle, where it bottlenecks down to 2.25, you can see the weld if you look under your car. I have a Monza catback, it was $200 & I love it, I got it from ZZP too...

stock exhaust has sections of 2.5

but it is FAR from what i would call a 2.5" exhaust system.

It's 2.0" at some point isn't it? Like the DP on the 2.4 might be 2.0". I'm not totally sure.

Only uninformed owners who don't care about performance go with any GMPP pieces.

so the gmpp performance exhaust narrows to 2.25 after the rear axle...does that really make that big of a difference?

Think of it this way. Try blowing through a 2.25" and then a 2.5" straw. Which one is easier?

um....that's a huge straw and both are prolly pretty easy???

I see what you're saying. Would it be worth it then to do a custom setup from that pinch point on back??

Unfortunately NO one has dyno's of just a custom section instead of a catback. It might yield some gains.
