got walked by a stock ss s/c

well a friend of mine has a stock ss s/c and walks away from me !
we have not ran since i had gm stage 2 and then i could pull on him every time no problem .
now I have been running 60lb injectors -2.79 pulley -ss header-high flow cat- 2 3/4 exhaust .have hpt but still not comfortable enough to do my own tune
things I have tried
1.checked compression since I have 66000 miles thought mabey somthing there but nope that looks good
2. spark plugs gap .35 = changed them I had a set 2 stages colder extra ngk iridium so any suggestions you have where to check from here let me know .
also anyone who has hpt and knows how to use it (lol unlike me )I have saved data from a few runs if you think ou can spot somthing from that ,that could help

Do a couple WOT runs and I will check em out. PM me for e-mail address to send to. It's in your tune 99%.

I had the same issue, most likely pulling timing up top due to changing climates (knock) and the fact that no tune was built overnight. You should have walked him hard with what you have.

The stock SS/SC tune although a pita was built and designed for year round driving so he would not be affected by things as you would be modded.

P.S Get ZEX plugs. NGK's are the weak

Well I'm unlocked for the 05 years on the SS. Depending on your car, I can flip you a slighly de-tuned version of my tune. I bet ya it won't be nearly as bad and will run much better up top too.

Check your PM's for the e-mail. I'll do a comparo on your file with mine and see what looks wrong.

You still running stock airbox? or modified stock airbox?

i have a cold air intake also a 75 shot of nitrous(which I did not use when running him
also my supercharger is ported and polished for smoother air flow

if I see an example of the run I can closely match the values needed for ported supercharger, your on your own with the nitrous setup though, I don't touch that ****

I know where you live you really can't go catless but if you bought one that was catless downpipes and kept the other one I bet you won't be running nearly as bad up top. Our cars love no cat on the car. Mine is loud as **** too. Never been pulled over though.

BTW, got your tune. Will evaulate in a second.

Your tune is very conservative. It's dumping lots of fuel too when crusing... is that a 2nd gear pull? Was tune created with your 60lb'ers or was this a pre-created tune with a few values changed? (looks like it). Do you have a longer period whenyou were scanning?

Some things that are good:

Max: 77% injector dutys @6850RPM
No knock
IAT's & IAT2's looking OK
I don't see anything else

Some bad things:

Cylinder Airmass only measured just over 1.06? (seems weak.)
Only 17 degrees of timing total? More power to be had here..
7200 RPM Redline? Why?
Why is the pull only to 6800RPM?
Looks like he goofed on doing MAF tuning
Your cat will go to hell in a hand basket if not re-tuned soon

Gutting the cat will help with performance if it's plugged but the real solution here is the car will adjust and you will need to retune for a more "open" exhaust now that you don't really have "restriction". A Catless SS runs like a beast.

P.S it will be 5x louder though by doing this :/ be prepared for more noise in the interior and the cops catching a leary eye on the loud car going down the street.

Check your plugs too. If they look like this:

it's time to replace them, they may be fouled from the excess fuel being used on those 60's and your performance will suffer greatly too.

here is my advice for the night:

1. Fix the CAT by replacing it, gutting it or getting a catless downpipe.
2. Check the plugs and clean them or replace them if possible with new ones.
3. Get some scans of regular idling, WOT runs and some mild runs as well. label them differently. (do this only after 1 & 2 are done).

I cannot adjust what is not "normal". I need the car to be in optimal running condition (meaning having 1 & 2 done) before I can make adjustments otherwise it's a waste of mine and your time as well and the car will not run at it's optimal performance.

Also, unplug the battery and re-connect after 1 & 2 is done so it resets some computer values and re-learned to drive with differences in the car changed so I can better setup the tune. Sounds silly but it's worth.

Do you have a wideband for monitoring? I need to get an idea what your AFR's are right now. This is key.

no problem but like I said a wideband is your best friend right now. Especially since you will have the cat internals removed. It will give a better reading then if you had the internals of the cat in there.

All too often those who don't have a common idea of what's going on often change things they shouldn't. Not saying your tuner did or did not but the tune is not lookin all that great.. it's "OK".

turborangerdude can vouch for the work. i've done work for him when he needed a stage 2 tune and some variables changed. he bought a bum stage 2 setup from a user and the code to download the tune via GM wasn't any good. I came to the rescue for him and offered advice and worked a few nights to get him setup right.

I haven't heard from him since though, he upgraded to larger injectors, smaller pulley and didn't get back with me :P I'm assuming he finally got the hang of HPT since he owned it himself but didn't know how to use it at the time.
