now that i took my rims off. what is the best way to clean them? I mean they are prety filthy on the inside of them and what not. Should i powerwash them? or steam clean them? or is there any thing else that somebody knows that may able to bring them back to life and make them look like new again. they are in good shape and all . but just really dirty. Thanks

Ryan

I did try to clean them w/ a hose and scrub brush but it was taking forever so there must be an easier way.

I used a power washer, sponge and car wash soap and it worked great. One tip... I washed them on grass. I would be afraid of laying them face down on cement/concrete.

Simple green takes that black stuff off fast. or go to an auto place and get some rim cleaner.

if you use anything other than soap (i.e. wheel cleaners, simple green) it will work well...but PLEASE just make sure you wash it off quickly. don't let it sit for any more than 1 minute. I had a mishap with some wheel cleaner on my camaro with polished rims. Completely ruined my rims....

simple green > All other wheel cleaners. with the exceptions of a few heavy duty professional brands

At work, we use diluted hydrochloric acid, just not recommended on gun metal rims, something like that. Works well.

in all honesty, nothing cleans better than a good soap(like Mequiars), warm water and a little elbow grease..Chemicals aren't needed unless you're lazy. If I was gonna take the time to take the wheels off, I'd take the time to detail them. I have my own little secret way of making them extra shiny, but it wouldn't do you any good unless you had a Safelite Autoglass shop near you. Warm water and a soft, non abrasive soap work just as well.

When ever I wash my car, I squeeze my hand between the spokes and clean them the best I can. It just makes it easier to clean them completely when I rotate the tires. It's always easier to wipe something clean than to scrub it clean. Just try not to let the crud biuld-up.

I have a tire brush that I have used to get the crap off the inside. That, elbow grease and a good soap always work.

Your just up the road from me. I'll have to find out that secret...

window cleaner is what I use at car shows, but getting at them with soapy water and a sponge works well.
