Best launches (your RPM)

I know there is a lot of debate on it. I also know that you definitely need to be careful since launching to hard will cause a serious shakedown, bogging out and of course torque steer.

But what RPM do you get the best start off of?

I don't... I don't drop / pop / dump the clutch. If I am going off of the line, I just feather out the clutch while giving it gas from idle.

Takes off pretty quick and still has wheel still through first If I am to quick on the clutch.

Being slow on the clutch is the best way to launch imho.

with out LSD its very difficult to launch the car. When ever i try to one wheel just starts spinning. Just have to start at 1500-2000 RPM and slowly engage the clutch.

I dont have LSD either and I do the same. Give it some gas while letting it out around 2000. Not like your gonna go any faster by dropping it.

If you drop it then you will either just spin the tires or if you don't have any upgraded mounts then you just get really bad wheel hop. It sounds horrible

Yeah wheel hop is whats gonna take the most out of the engine. When mine hops I just think about how much my engine is rocking around then I cry.

I had some bad wheel hop once or twice. Nothing thats gonna destroy the car just once but nothing I'd let happen again.

I find easing into it is best for me right now. You can idle up around 17-1800 then ease in and be quick to shift into 2nd. That works well for me right now.

I rev up to 3 and let it drop a lil and slowly engage the clutch at the same time, wheels spin abit and than punch it. Sometinmes it works very well other times not so well, but it is difficult w/o the LSD

2500-2800 slip the clutch out.....never got wheel hop and i don't have a engine dampiner.

Dumping or poping out the clutch is what causes the wheel hop.

On the street I pop the clutch at 1000 rpm and then ease into the throttle . That gives me a little but not alot of wheel spin , no wheel hop and no bog . By about 3K rpms I'm WOT . If do the same method with any launch rpm over a grand , it spins and wheelhops bad . I have tried slipping the clutch and easing rpm's too , that works best overall . But when I can nail a 1000 rpm launch and pop the clutch and ease into the throttle just right , nothing Ive done accelerates the car harder from a dead stop .

At the strip Its totally different . Because the track is so much stickier , what woulda been light wheel spin on the street =BAD wheel hop at the track . From idle I slip the clutch and ease into the thottle at the strip . When I get solid motor mounts and slicks , theeen we get to see how strong those stock axle shafts are I wonder how this car would react launching at 4000-5000 rpm deadhooking . Youd have to bang 2nd before you could count to 1 , haha .

I almost want to wait to mod my car until I see how fast I can really get this thing to go on slicks with solid mounts . I probabaly am gonna end up doing just that . My average mid 97 mph trap speed tells me theres plenty more ET than my average 14.8xx . Hell , I can remember back when my trans am was stock with a CAI and muffler running 13.80's at 98-99 traps .

I slip it from about 2500-3000.... I have no LSD, but I really don't think it matters much for launching... the ONLY time my car will one wheel it is in a turn, or if the torque steer pulls me to the right... If I spin, its both tires spinning. We have equal length halfshafts for a reason.

Huh... I can be going 15-20 mph and then floor it and 90% of the time I will get bad wheel hop. This is even with the Weapon-R damper (POS).

Peace

On regular pavement with the LSD, a 1200 RPM clutch drop seems to get a pretty fast time. Anything more gets into wheel hop and excessive spin.

Then again, I'm not so sure that the factory warranty has provisions for launching methods. Wait till you have 36,001 miles and then try.

warranty last longer then 36,000, it is 50,000 or 60,000
