they are pretty much a match, slight advantage to the wrx due to the obvious launch advantage

im going from a hazy memory but i think the wrx stock runs about 14.0+?

 

from a 40 roll it will be a drivers race...if you go from a dig....the AWD on those eats up our cars!

that sounds low to me but eh I could be wrong I think drivers race....

I ran an early WRX with the SPT intake & cobb stage 1 back when I was stock... from a 30 roll we were pretty much even.

 

i think you might be able to hang with him or beat him even from a stand still if you can launch correctly. I remember driving the 92x aero (basically a wrx w/ saab body) and it had no *****. Only way he will beat you at this point is if he revs it up and launches it well from a stand still, until he starts putting on other mods.

thats not a wrx, drive one with any mods (esp. a turboback) and you will be a changed man.

i agree from a roll you will take him, hell if he cant launch (which is often the case with awd guys) then you can take him from a dig too. however if your friend can drive then you dont stand a chance from a dig on the street, my buddy's close to stock one cuts consistent 1.7's

 

My best friend has a wrx, and we run each other all the time.

From a dig, you will get stomped..AWD is training wheels, He will have 4 cars on you before you get traction.

From 5-7mph, it will be nearly even, His turbo lag will make up for your wheel spin at top of first and into second.

From 20 mph, Even, you will have maybe a car on him. as you know our cars have a extreme dead spot at 20mph.. but so do the WRX's. I know its not great on our car but you might have a to rev it up and drop the clutch.

From 30, All you. 1 1/2 cars

From 55, you will have 2 cars...

Third gear on those are weak, whereas our 3rd gear is our strongest. So any type of third gear pull you will win.

 

Sorry i havent checked the thread for awhile. I have not had a chance to race him, but he has been throwing around annoying comments that make me wanna race him When it comes down to it, i really dont care which car is faster cuz there is always a faster car. Although i would like to serve him a big piece of humble pie when i get the upgraded fuel injectors, smaller puller and belt and a custom tune. Bye Bye WRX Thanks for all of your comments fellas!

 

There are tons of the WRX vs threads. If it is an sti you don't stand a chance, but if it is a regular wrx and you are a decent driver pulling a 2.6 60' time or better you should be in front of him by the end of the track. Heres a link of me racing a WRX and all I had at the time was a CAI. He killed me off the line of course, but I came fast after that. The video is crappy and sideways but you can still see.
