Which car should I buy?

2007 Laser Blue Cobalt ss Stage 2 $17995 with 10000 miles

or...
2007 Ultra Silver Cobalt ss Stock $18540 with 7300 miles

Does LSD make a huge difference? I test drove the silver cobalt(non LSD) and it had really bad wheel hop, does the LSD eliminate that, or what does?

The stage 2 is a better deal, its cheaper, has extremely low miles and your already moded like the majority of cobalt owners so ull save urself a grand

No... wheel hop will haunt you forever! (until you get supporting mods like mounts and CABs)

get the blue one! Already has stage 2, its blue... and it is cheaper.

Does the blue one have LSD? Also what year are these cars. Recaros... etc....

Blue has a measly 2700 more miles, has Stage 2, maybe an LSD since you don't say, and is cheaper, and you're asking which one to buy? Unless you're really fond of silver ......

Btw, the LSD won't eliminate wheel hop but is desirable to have. I wish mine had it.

thanks ecessivemod...thats what im thinking too.... Does anyone know more about the Limited Slip differential.....from what i understand it uses a clutch like mechanism to spin both front wheels to move the car instead of just one one....am i wrong?

I know for a fact that the blue one has LSD ,but i dont know about the silver one...

basicly thats how it works. iirc it uses a worn gear style (like a quaife) lsd, its a little more complex but does the same thing, works for a 50/50 torque split.

the lsd came with the g85 package, also should have the recarro seats.

you are right, LSD keeps one tire from moving without the other basically. It is also fairly costly I believe if you get it installed afterwards.

i think everyone agrees on the blue lol

They stopped putting in the Recaros the 2nd half of 06 I believe... so the last few 06's and the 07's + won't have them even if they have the g85.

Not so true. At the tail end of 06 and a lil bit into 07 you could find some 07 g85's with recaros. I was one of the lucky ones. I think as long as they were built before September 06 as an 07 you could find the recaros

Anyways get the blue with stage 2

yeah its very rare to find them together as the package in the cars now. Go with stage 2 if it has the LSD, if not get the silver one if it has the LSD. The stage 2 is nice though, but your gonna want more power anyway so its your call, cause thats just what happens when you mod

if its an 06 most likely it will have the recaros. if not youll have to check the equipment sticker in the trunk to be sure it has the lsd and no recaros.

lift up your trunk mat should be right next to the sub. Youll have to find the post on here that decodes each 3 character code and see if the one for the diff is on there, im guessing not

yeah im pretty sure your going to look for G85 and it wont be on there cause of not having the recaros

were you told it had lsd when you bought it, cause it must have been used when you bought it

No, I wasn't told it had LSD. I bought the car through my brother in-law at a mazda dealer ship where it was traded in on a truck. At the time I didn't know much about the ss/sc's other then it was supercharged. I didn't know about LSD at that point in time or I would have asked.

How/where do I find the post on decoding each 3 character code?

im not sure if anyone has it broken down for just the lsd and recaros. The only ones I have found are for G85 which is the option that includes both. Most likely the only way yours would have it is if they put it in aftermarket, youll have to search the formus but i searched build sheet

blue one, if the test drive doesnt have any problems, both have 100k warrantee and its good to have the limited slip and stage 2 for cheaper, as apposed to possibly wanting them later, but you might need to buy some new good aftermarket front brakes for the blue one in 10k miles

If you post the VIN number i can post the build sheet from GM .

hmm....i guess everyone thinks the blue cobalt is the better pick....my only concerns with the blue cobalt is a license plate mounted on the front bumper...and on the blue car you can see stone chips more easily than the silver one...and i know that sounds rediculous but i am just really **** about my car....

Anybody know how to fix the silly holes the dealership drills in the bumper to put the stupid license plate up there and how much $$$ it would cost

If you have the VIN's i can find out the GM service history for both. It will show any warranty work done by GM and the build sheets for each car
