Cobalt 2.2 to 2.4 Intake Kit

Does anyone know what tb you would use with this intake manifold; any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

If you use any other than the stock, the 2.2 will go into limp mode because the air volume will be outside whats expected.

This has been discussed many times.

Does this kit require any tuning? It looks like it could a benefit to, at least, bump the rev limiter up a little. According to the dyno graph the power isn't falling off before 6500.

Also, I kinda like the flat torque curve the 2.2 intake gives.

I have it on my '05 and all I did we buy a peice of vacuum hose from canadian tire for the break booster. It bolted up just fine for me.

The main reason '05's don't seem to like this mod is because we have a more restrictive exhaust manifold. This wasn't a problem for me since I have an SS manifold and downpipe.

Did you buy the CED kit? Any instructions?

alot, the stock exhaust mani and dp are very restrictive.

Not to beat a dead horse...too much, but did any of you guys that installed the manifold go on the dyno afterwards?

You're right it's a dead horse -- the manifold works, period. You keep touting your "Whopping" 2 ft-lbs loss at a lower RPM as a reason not to get this manifold but the truth is your dyno proves nothing as you accomplished the dyno months after the first one and have not given any information such as air temp and humidity differences -- which have a BIG affect on HP! There are other dyno runs accomplished before and after the intake was installed that show nothing but an increase -- especially when you factor a STOCK Engine Vs {Intake-exhaust-2.4 Manifold-ext Hon manifold/header}.

So would this intake be less likely to blow up on a nitrus backfire?

Calm down man. Did you even look at my dyno comparison in my gallery? Its a little more than a "Whopping 2 ft-lbs". Furthermore, I doubt I would tout a loss in power. And I think that I've been pretty fair about not making too big a deal about it; all I'm trying to do is give people the other side of the story and support it with facts, not feelings about it. There are just way too many guys on here that feel that this mod is the best thing since sliced bread. I'm just one guy trying to say that people might want to look at everything before jumping to buy it.

Furthermore, both dynos were done early in the morning on cool days on the same dyno. The temperature/humidity difference was negligable. Maybe 1-2 whp difference up top. With the slower velocity of the air, at several points on my dyno graph, I was making 20 lb-ft less than with the stock manifold. I've tried to communicate this to people without seeming redundant, but it doesn't seem possible. I just think that the responsible thing to do when someone asks about the swap is to show them the ups and downs. Most of the people on here just respond with "I did the swap and it feels great. Best mod ever!" And they never supply dyno sheets.I felt a "good" difference when I had it on my car, but the dyno showed me exactly what was happening. Show me the #'s and there will be something to talk about. I know that there is a difference between the '05-'06 and the '07 2.2's and I have mentioned that in my other posts.

I think thats it's wise to go with the numbers instead of the seat of the pants dyno. I was proved wrong with mine.

Probably not, but it will flow better with the nitrous than the 2.2 manifold. And the manifold blowing will actually help protect the rest of your engine should a backfire occur by absorbing much of the blast.

I know everyone hates this topic, but I'd like to add something I found this evening.

go to http://www.kandn.com/dynocharts/69-4515.pdf

If you look in that graph you will notice the loss in the same mid range with the K&N intake. Maybe the 2.4 manifold just magnifies an already lower midrange from the installed intakes.

Just stabbing around for fun.

you cant read or you mistyped. K&N says a 1 or 2 hp loss right at 3000. So its spot on with the 2.4 losses

I read correctly. What I wrote was that from 3000- 3300 rpm, the torque was lower with the intake. When I dynoed with the manifold, my torque was lower for 2500 rpm.

I really wish i had the time or the desire to take that thing back off and dyno with all things seperate. Added intake and exhaust really does this thing no justice
