Second Gen Cobalt: Let’s speculate

I think the first gen will run 2005-2009
I was thinking about the second gen Cobalts.
What do you think they will be like? How much more power do you think the SS will have?
Will there be a turbo?

IMO no turbo because it wouldnt say to much for superchargers. i think AWD would be great. i think they need to build a car that can hold upwards to 400 who. because if mine could without internal work. i would. i hope they quit making cobalts. making my arrival blue more rare. i dont think there will be a 2nd gen cobalt SS

based on GM's business position in the auto car market, I speculate the cobalt SS S/C will meet an early demise much like the SRT-4. Granted, things keep deteriorating with GM money wise.

I think that GM's decision to make so few SS S/Cs is a huge mistake. Sure, I personally like having a rare car but for the good of the company I wouldn't mind if it was a huge seller. My dealer told me that he could have sold 20 within the two weeks after I bought mine. He said of the three they sold, only mine actually made it off the truck before being bought.

Look at Ford, they have a winner with the new Mustang (GT is especially nice) and there are a bunch of them on the streets. Wise up GM.

well I agree, I dont think the cobalt will last too long. one good thing though is cobalts are "rare" compared to mustangs as metioned before. there are soooo many stangs out there. it reminds me of ipod if you will, they are a good product at an offardable price compared to any other company in the buisness, so there is not as much competition coming out with good stuff. as is the case with the mustang so people will buy it because they get a good product for their money and there isnt much competition coming out with comprable cars.

tell me if im wrong in what im saying I wont take it as an offense

Ya... do you know how many thousands of dollars you spend to replace the battery in a hybrid vehicle? $3000-$5000 depending on the car. They don't save you any money and they are slow and heavy. NO THANKS. I'm at peace with the earth, are u? ;-)

rumor has it they want to use an awd system in the cobalt...... would be sweet for us, however i think the stage kits should be able to be ordered as an option from the factory

I say stay with SC, everyone and there mothers blows turbo's . It is a rare thing to see, especially on a 4 banger, a supercharged car. All you hear is turbo this and turbo that. That is what I like about my car. I think AWD will be the key and unfortunatly GM has to get out of there financial bind so I think a turbo AWD balt or some kind of car is gonna happen. Let's face it, turbo's are more popular and GM has to do what more people are buying on the buisness end of the spectrum.

The cobalt will not leave production any time soon. The Car is 10x better then the previous Cavalier/sunfire which had a more than 15 year run?

GM may be going through problems now, but come on, GM sells more cars then any car manufacterer in the US

i think AWD should be an option. sure it gives you good launches but you have to spread the torque through out the wheels. what i think they should do id make like 2 sports versions, liek they do now.. but they both shouldn't be called the SS. Like the 2.4 ss should be like the 2.4 S then the ss/sc.. i think Gm should build the S/C to compete with cars like the STI have it upwards of 320 hp awd 6 speed. then the 2.4 should be the more affordable car. like 250 hp i donno how but get it there and make it run quick too. that would be my dream

If anything, the new monte carlo w/ the v8 should have been awd.

Ford finally jumped into the awd game w/ the 500. I am supprised GM hasn't yet even with cadilac.

haha was that a serious question ...you continually amaze me with your perpetual ideas of simply swapping components from other cars into yours without any though to how complex it would be...

when cars are designed the parts for them are very specific ... a change of a couple millimeters can be a world of difference ... an awd drive train is drastically different from a FWD not to mention the transmission would have to be changed ... but you would want to swap different generation of cars and layout ...does that seem reasonable

gm is gearing its marketing and production towards smaller economy cars in light of gas prices and such, which is why we see so many variations offered from gm, and probably more in the future, so i definitley see a future for the cobalt.

im not sure what you are talking about, what other ideas have i said that you dont agree with? and i know how complex it would be i was just speculating as to if a company would see that the new balts have awd and maybe design a kit for the older ones that would be very expensiv like $5k... thats not as crazy as you make it sound, it could be done

haha a kit ... its clear you have no idea what would be involved and how expensive/complex it is so I am not going to waste my time trying to explain it to you because you just wouldn’t understand

as for other examples off the top of my head you were asking a **** load of suspension questions on what parts you could swap and throw on ...if you do a search of your posts they are laughable

I would rather see a 300 horse rwd cobalt with he same weight and stage upgrades with a 5-8 % increase in price... I dont know why everyone is on the AWD boat sure its great for launching ..but RWD in a cobalt would be a blast for almost every situation

I'd love to see a RWD Cobalt. Doubt it'll happen anytime soon. GM has the Solstice.
What frame is the Solstice using btw..?? Is it similar to ours..?? I can look it up, just a little lazy today
