the winter tire/rim thread
the winter tire/rim thread
well i went ahead and did it. 4 16 inch steelies and 4 Bridgestone Blizzak REVO 1's for 586 shipped from tirerack. got a great deal on the blizzak's and the rims were cheap because i didnt give a crap what they looked like.

I got 4 steelies from tirerack, 41 a piece. Got two winterforce's for the front - 215/60/16 and two used tires, brand new just about, free, for the rear. The winterforces are excellent in the snow/ice. I am very impressed with them. I also got 4 toyota camery hubcaps for them lol. I just popped off the toyota emblem.. perfect.
i have only had them for 3 days and it just now (2am) started snowing. so i am going to see what it does in the next day, drive some, tnen give a review of the tires. witch is what i am going for with this thread,
i know it isnt a great picture but here is my tire/rim combo...they are 16inch sport rims and blizzak revo 1s from tire rack...paid something like 760 with shipping for em...they are a great tire in bad weather...but the performance is lacking lol. you just dont have the confidence as you do with the regular 18inch wheel and tire combo (i have the stock pirellis and they are better for regular day driving) but it think you have to expect that when you go and buy a WINTER tire lol
if anyone is looking for some 17" blizzaks.. 215/55R17 I have a full set for sale.. used for one winter.. pictures available ifyou want.. 200 bucks plus shipping.. prefer local pickup tho
i got the blizzaks revo 1s and there just for winter plain and simple, they do amazing in deep snow and icy roads, but they are not winter performance tires which i dont mind as im not gunna be racing around lol

Yea , the Revo 1's on dry roads make my SS feel like a 81 buick regal handing wise . The LM-22's I had before , the car still handled nearly as good as stock , but they sucked in deep snow .

4X16 inch steelies $390 from kal-tire
4X 205/60/16 Goodyear Nordics. $380
the difference correct tires makes is increadible.
I believe that the cheapest snow tire on the market, will be better than the most expensive all-season you can buy.
and people driving on high performance summers on snow/ice should have their licence revoked.

No pics yet but I got a set of 16" black sport rims to go with a set of 215/55/16 Nokian WRG2 tires, which apparently came out barely a few months ago. Check them out: http://www.nokiantires.com/en/tire_w...?season=winter
I haven't thoroughly tested them as there hasn't been enough snow on the ground but I'll come back here to let you know how they perform! From the little snow that I was able to try them out on though, they're outstanding!

Any review on the hhr all season wheel/tire combo in the snow? I just picked up a set
I'm anxious to put em on and see if it will soften up the ride a little and reduce noise for winter. Right now the cold suspension coupled with stiff cold pirellis is alot more jarring than in summer. Not to mention how loud these things are getting; being nearly bald. I guess I'm picky

I agree.... they should be ticketed... they hold everyone up..... had a knucklehead last nite in a big Acura sedan just spinning at the light w/ a line of 8 cars behind him, I cruise up the inside lane (empty) and he barely made it through the intersection w/ 2 other cars.
I was forced to do some passing last nite in a NO PASSING zone.... some lady was doing 10-15 mph in a 45 mph zone.... a pack of 3 of us passed and it was wide open for 5 miles.
BTW.... I am running BLIZZAK WS-50's on my commuter w/ stock rims.... was running Dunlop Winter Sport M3's on the SC last season, VictorySS now has my winter set up on his SC
