View Full Version : Do you have fingerprints from the factory on your gunmetal oem wheels?

Check when you have your wheels off. I'm wondering if this is prevelant or I'm just unlucky.

I was cleaning the OEM wheels for the winter last night when I found these. I assume they were done when the wheels were painted gunmetal, when they were being manufactured. All 4 wheels are like this to a greater or lesser extent.

Same thing on my rims :(

GM really missed the boat on this car(Atleast for the first year). The more I have it the more dissapointed I am. Come summer I'm tradin up.

I can't remember how many of mine are like that, but I think I only had 2 wheels with prints on them. One of those 2 had them in 2 locations iirc. The finish still felt smooth, just looks funny.

I don't have those marks, but I do have a giant scratch on my hood under the clear coat that I recently noticed while washing my car..... GRRRRR

I also have a fingerprint under my clearcoat on part of my paint on my door

I don't see why the fingerprints on he wheels are a big deal, the only time you see them is when they are off. And if they are on then they're prob to dirty to see anyways. If the fingerprints are on the paint of the car then i would have it fixed but on the rims it just doesn't make sense.

isnt the inside of the wheel left the natural aluminum finish ?

i can understand being picky about the prints if the wheels were alot more open and you could see them from the out side

gm didnt build them to be show cars

mmmmmmkay, hi.

The point is QUALITY. The Cobalt is targeted to be a vehicle that much better in fit and finish than the Cavalier. The point is not if you can see them or not, the point is that they are THERE.

I have them too. I noticed it back in November when I put my winter wheels on and I was a little upset. the paint obviously didn't dry enough. I got an idea!!! How about we take a close up of the fingerprints and see if we can find a match and go find the guy who did it . I seriously do have them though. If i'm not mistaken I think it's on all 4's

As I already said, its about quality, I don't care that its on the inside lip, it shouldn't be there at ALL.

Mine don't have them, I guess i was lucky and my wheels were painted on a different shift :D

it's definately the same guy that did it or at least done at the same plant at the same time. That's just carelessness. I hope I don't have them but then again I don't want to look either lol.

ya but it still pisses you off that you go and pay 21k on a car that is supposed to be completly perfect and you find all these little imperfections and what "small" details are you not seeing?

LSpower05
01-05-2006, 04:49 PM
I agree, That's just plain carelessness. Has anyone sent a email to GM about it?

Yea, I would go to my dealer and ask for a new set. IF you ever went to sell the rims or the car, thats definately if seen going to cause problems. I havent checked mine and to be honest dont care if they are there cause its no biggie being in the back and all, no ones going to see it so who cares? It like being pissed theres a shit load of wires behind your dash. SO the F what?

anyway I would definately erge someone to reach out to GM and see whatsup. Atleast finger print and identify the guy who was the culprate so we can all send him hate mail.
