Thumbs up Just ordered my 1st mod, and I have a tint and CAI question for ya

Hey guys, just ordered my GMPP Performance Exhaust today before they sky-rocketed the price. Should get here next week. Still gotta buy a tip and get the install set up at a dealer, but I'll deal with that when it gets here. I can't wait!!!!!

Anyway, the first question I have for you guys is about the Injen CAI for the ss/sc. A lot of the places I look at it say that it's for the "05-06" ss/sc and I have an 07 so I was just wondering if they haven't updated their sites yet or if it actually wont work in my 07 or what. Didn't want to buy it then have it not work.

And my 2nd "mod" question for you guys was about tint. I'm thinkin about going 22-ish% all around (except windshield) and I wanted to see what other people on the forum have. So post pics (and advice) on your car and let me know what you have and what you think. Also, if anyone knows a GOOD tint installer in S Jersey, let me know.

Thanks a ton guys!!!!

PS- Thank god the sites back up haha

damn your car is going to become my car! just throw stg2 and some sportlines on it and youll be set!

As for the intake, I have an 06 so mine was fine; not sure if there is any changes in the layout design under the hood from 06-07.

As for the tint, I went 15% all around...look at my myspace page, there is a nice side shot of my car right there on the front page. Itll give you an idea. I have a tint strip on my windshield too, its AMAZING.

Mind you, there is a ridiculous population per square mile where I live, so cops dont have time to really bust your nuts for something like tint. Thats unless you are already getting pulled over, and they feel like being dicks. Also, living in florida...they understand dark tints cause the sun is super strong

Heres mine, i went with 15%. As far as the exhaust goes just install it yourself, its pretty easy and will save you a good amount of money for your next mod.

Thanks Inferno.
And yea, I'm kinda thinking about doing it myself but I'm not exactly the most mechanically-gifted person in the world haha.

Campo, that looks awesome but I don't want to go tooo dark here 'cause it's Jersey and the cops blow and pull people over for everything, but I'm a volunteer FF so I might be able to get away with it haha

Neither am I, but I had no trouble doing it. I highly recommend that you do it yourself. Save the $$ and get the satisfaction of working on your car.

How hard would you say it is (1-10)? And what's it comprable to and how long will it take?

I actually installed mine last night. Tools include 15mm socket (or 16, I forget), a hacksaw or recommended; a reciprcating saw. The hardest parts are cutting the stock exhaust off, and getting those DAMN BOLTS off that connect the cat to the rest of the exhaust. Its very simple, just time consuming with the wrong tools (thats the way I usually do things....)

and as for 1-10....id say a 3...but like I said, it is time consuming. No brain power needed, though.

Its real easy. Just cut it right by the rear where it goes over the crossmember, remove the bolts where is bolts to the downpipe and then take off the rubber hangers and it will drop down in 2 peices. The GMPP one is already in 3 peices, all you have to do is move from one end to the other sliding your peices together and putting it up with the hangers, and when everything is in place tighten up the clamps. It took me 30-45 mins from start to finish.

Well the thing about those mods is, You might get a little hp gain...but I put it on for the 3x louder whine. Same as exhaust, Im sure i gained some ponies...but I got it for the sound more.

Lets just say after I put the injen on, it was much easier to chirp the 1-2 shift. So its a little more power. Compared to my car now though...

Im right over the walt whitman bridge in PA, if im not too far I can probably come and give you a hand. And as far as the exhaust tip goes i just went to the local parts store and got a clean stock looking tip and welded it on, its about 1/4"-1/2" larger then the exhaust pipe.

For a stock one, I like that. I do really like the GM ones with the Chevy logo on it though, looks classy yet sportty.
If I decide to do it myself and need a hand I'll definitely keep you in mind. Thanks man

All the intakes will fit, not matter if it's an 07. They are the same. I have an Injen CAI on my 07.

As far as tint, I think I'm going to go like 15%-20%. Black interiors make the tint look even darker fyi.
I would definitely try to do the exhaust also, it's pretty easy, just take your time and it should be no problem.

Thanks man, I figured I wouldn't have a problem but I just wanted to be sure. I like the black Injen btw. Can't decide if I want to go with the black or silver. Do I hear a poll in the distance....?

Kinda hard to tell, everything in back is 5%. Front two are 20%. Windshield, nothing. Key to tint around here is dont be an *******. If your screwing around asking to get pulled over the law will get ya, if your driving normal, they leave you alone.

Ill hafta see if i cant find some better pics
