OK here is the deal i have an 07 ss/sc and after i let it warm up and drive around my coolant is at 178F and i just installed the GMPP Performance exhaust and after doing so i noticed when it just sits at idal my coolant is getting hotter and im getting up to 215F and i never got over 184F so do you think it can be due to the cat if it is taking a **** any help here is great thanks guy's and girls !!!
You could be onto something. Take the time to pull the down pipe and shine a light through it to see if you can see the light. If you don't then you cat is clogged. Our cats have been know to go out
Yes even now when i just drive around city or highway im always at 178F and when i let my car sit now after i put on the gmpp performance exhaust i started to get hot at idal when i just leave my car on or at a light that takes a while ill start to get into the 200 i think im going to have the dealer check it out or does any know what else to do??
You can take it in to the dealership but I dont think they will take your DP off to look at it unless you throw a CEL.(they might but I wouldnt count on it) I recently had my cat replaced under warrenty, with the clogged cat my car performed like a almost stock SS/SC and was quiet as HELL! Like electric car quiet and that is no lie.
it's normal. the car always heats up when you leave it started, or are in heavy traffic, or anything else. you're probably just noticing it now because you were specifically looking at your temps, and are freaked out since you never saw it that high and now have an exhaust.
it's normal, nothing to worry about, don't take it to the dealer. anything under 240-250 is considered normal. mine sits at 178-179 while driving, but if i let it warm up too long, or am in heavy traffic, it will go up to 220 no problem.
