Drag bags review
Drag bags review
well, today i installed my drag bags.
took 30 minutes, absolute piece of cake install.
Its all routed to a nice neat valve stem that i located in one of the grills at the bottom of my bumper.

this is the kit.
so far ive only driven a little with them jacked up to max pressure, and WOW
what a difference. car is SO stiff in the rear now, handling feels better, less body roll.
and most importantly, weight transfer during launch is VERY minimal now.
cant wait to see how these do at the track.
So far im very happy with the results from such a cheap investment.

its a poly air bag that sits inside your coil spring.
when you air them up, your rear is basically stiffened up with the air bag.
so that during launch you minimize weight transfer to the rear of the car.

exactly
instead of weight transfer to the rear, more will stay to the front during launches
IE more stability, more downpressure, more traction
Assuming the rear suspension is the same, i dont see why it wouldnt fit a redline
also note...this kit isnt SPECIFICALLY for the cobalt....but it does fit...
props to Spaz for the info on the kit.

Less weight transfer = more weight on the front wheels which = better front wheel traction - and since this is a fwd vehicle, = better launch! lol. Keep up posted on track time improvements (interested in 60' especially)!
Dammit beat me to it haha.

for 80 bucks, would seem like one of the best mods available for overall driving. I no when i get some more money this will be on my list alongside motor mounts and tranny mounts.. id love to see pics of it installed. Do you have to have it at max pressure, or can you lower the pressure without it bouncing around in the coil area??
EDIT: if ya got a air setup these drag bags would become useless??

they suggest running them at 5psi for regular driving.
just to keep them from being pinched in the coils, but not enough to apply pressure.
i just have them at max (25psi) to test them right now.
yes these would be useless with air suspension. as this is exactly what air suspension will do.
an0m with the air ride u get that stiffness in the back and then the 9 way dampening strut bags in the front are so nice...i had ssc springs before air bags and would tell people save there money
STIFF!!!
but in all honesty this isnt really something you would leave aired up all the time.
at least, not to the full pressure i have it on right now.
id say 5-10psi in them would be a nice happy medium. still give lots of suspension travel. but just stiffen it up a tad.
I will post pics tommorow when i go grab my camera (left it at the folks place)

nice. ive used them in my el camino and they were great. but if you are gonna go air bags why not skip this step? anyways lets see some results at the track. have you launched it hard yet to see if the seat of the pants o meter is better
