Fuel Economy very poor for first 1000km? (650 miles)

I was told by a few people not to worry because a lot of cars have poor fuel economy over the first 1000km (about 650 miles).

Have you guys noticed this? I got it with a tank of 91 from Shell. Then put in 94 from Sunoco and 91 from Petro recently.

She's been killing gas, I literally see it going down faster and faster.

I've driven her about 310km so far and I've gone through over 1 and 1/2 tanks :S

any thoughts?

I think you need to lay off the pedal.... It makes a huge difference... I can get almost 40mpg going real easy on the gas and 15-20mpg if I drive like a lead foot.... which I do

USE the same gas!!! Every time you use different gas brands(especially octanes) your car's computer has to create different fuel maps thus wasting gas. I got 15mpg the first week in my STI, had to show off to everyone

I drive it good and push it atleast once every time I bring it out. I get about 340km avg per tank. 13.1l/100km is what my tac is normally. I wanted to see how high i could get it and it was 14.3.

I'm sticking with the same gas from here in until probably April or May.
I'm not heavy on the pedal really. I'll see how it goes.

If you've got an SS S/C Go put 87 octane in there and come back and same the same thing again.

P.S. I cannot be held responsible for anything that happens to your car w/ 87 octance

Nah, paying the extra few bucks to go with 91 is no problem with me (94 in summers).

But if its draining out like 1.5 tanks every 195miles....that IS a problem. (aka 310 km)
