This dealer must be joking!

So my good friend Joel and I were talking about him buying a new car. He really likes the SS/SC's so we went to test drive one at a dealer. I talked to the salesman on the phone and he said he had one in black. We drive down to find out that it was actually sold the day before and he appologized. Although we did see an 05 on the used lot. We asked how many miles were on it, 7,000 miles..... I asked what the price was.......

$22,995!!!!! I actually laughed out loud and tried to hide it. I said to the man, your kidding right? that is the price of one brand new! I informed the man that I bought my 05 w/ 80 miles on it for $20,500. The man told me that must have been a mistake on the dealer's part. He even showed me a brand new 2.4L SS on his computer w/ a price of 22,000 brand new! I couldn't stop laughing.... He said that when they get more SS/SC's in that they would be around 26 grand. We got up and laughed our way out the door.

Supply and demand is in affect. The more people want them the higher the price. I am glad that I got into one at the price I did. That is when they had the employ discount and all. Some dealers will hick the price up and Wait till eager buyer get it at that price. GM will need to keep there dealers in check somehow in order to sell a lot of them. But GM really does not have too much control of the dealers prices. I would suggest to have him shop around. You might get a better deal somewhere else.

The dealer by me has a used 05 ss/sc with about 6000 miles on it - red, sunroof, xm, can't remember if it had side curtain bags or not, but no G85. They got it in in the end of oct/beginning of nov and stickered it at 21,995. I drove it and we talked price and the salesman was like "would you buy it for 21000" I said "hahaha no" and he said well what were you thinking, I said "17-18" he's like the best we'll do is 20,000.

I went there 2 weeks ago (after I had ordered my SS 2.4 elsewhere) just to mess with him as the car was still there. I said "price come down yet?" he said "how about 19?" I said how about 17,500 and he was like I'll go in the back and see if the boss will approve it if you're ready to make a down payment right now. I was like, no.

I don't even know if a year old use ss/sc is worth 17,500......

I haven't seen that big a markup here in Texas either. I NEVER would have paid 26k for my SS/SC, not that it's not worth it now that I drive it everyday. I think sticker down here is 23k.

Used 05 with 7k miles on it, could be a reason someone got rid of it so soon...

For 26K I would make the leap to a GTO.

Funny story behind that.....the salesman told me it was a young girl in her early 20s that traded it for a LS b/c she couldn't see out the back with the spoiler and didn't like the stickshift. I then thought of a girl I went to school with who told me she bought an SS/SC. I got ahold of her online and sure enough it was her car and confirmed that the salesman wasn't lying about it.

Totally agree on that one. I drove a few GTOs and them things are bad ass.

OMG I'd never get rid of my baby!!!!!!! Sure, rear vision is a bitch and it's almost gotten me a few speeding tickets because it has a tendancy to cloak the light bar on top of the cop cars but I've learned to adapt and use my side mirrors. As far as the stick shift goes - I waited 6 years to have a car with stick shift!!!!! My Cavi was an auto and it just wasn't fun to drive at all. Sure, driving in heels is a bitch but I keep sneakers in the car for that very reason. I'm sorry to hear she got rid of hers.

Wow... The sticker price of my car was 24.995. 2006 Cobalt SS/SC Sunroof, Side impact airbags, G85 package, XM radio.

After my trade and Friends and family discount, my GM card points, and my cash down, I walked out with a loan for 17,000

I would think if the sticker price went up, then the trade in values should go up too no?

merc, what dealership did you go to? it wasnt porter was it?

If he was willing to drive down to Milford he could get brand new 06 SS/SC's or 2.4 SS's for bout as much as mine w/ interest added, which i dont think is too much over 20g's..if that, but they have some and are looking to get rid of them.... they've had them for a month, so i know they should lower it, might even have some at their other location they can bring in, cuz i doubt you'd want to drive another 30-45 minutes more after already driving atleast an hour from Wilmington/New Castle to Milford
