On my car. Not the greatest vids. I haven't got any with me racing yet. It's really deep and the performance is all in the top end. It takes away a little low end but it helps make it easier to launch too. Great easy exhaust mod!

wow, it doesn't run like **** at all. but it sounds pretty much like any other FI 4cyl with a cutout.

yea, my cutout is right at the end of the downpipe, right before the resonator. It's pretty loud. I only use it at the track.

nope, no negative effects at all when it's closed. Sounds stock, through my stock exhaust!

ralli, the difference between yours and the cutout the guy wants is your's is off the downpipe, he wants his right off the header.

i put a catless DP on and didnt replace the gasket between DP and catback...the leak was loud and annoying and felt like I lost power...i replaced it and it made one hell of a difference...

Honestly Ralli... your car sounds really bad... like crap... no offese... its just that it doesnt sound good... as far as power loss your probably losing a good amount of power because of it. so... i dont suggest doing it

^^true but this is NOT good for the cars performance.. you are losing power rather than gaining it...

It's got a lot more top end and if you actually have the rpms to use that top end, I.E.>hp tuners to adjust the rev limit, then it does give you a good gain.

when I tested out my heat exchanger upgrade at the track, I had the cutout. I put it in my write up of cooling mods. And I've tested it out against a couple different cars from a roll. When the cutout was closed, they'd pull me up top pretty hard, but when it was open, I could stay right with them. One of the cars was a modded srt-4 and the other was a 2.6" pullied SS. Of course I was using my meth injection, cobra HE, and hp tuners, but I tested the difference with my cutout open and closed and the top end is definitely stronger with the cut out open.

yeah but lets think about this man... how fast were you racing to against those cars? 110+ probably? you wont trap that for the 1/4/ so the gains arent realistic

I love how unless the gains show in driving a 1/4 mile, or below the speed most reach in that quarter mile "they're unrealistic" lol

wow, so you take a guess at what MPH I raced to and then you call me an idiot. Thanks a lot.

BUT, as a matter of fact, whenever I test my car out, I do a first gear roll, about 20-25mph, and we race to a hair pass 100mph. So like 101ish to 103ish. So that's about as realistic and as close to eliminating driver error that we can get. If we go from a dig, you got to account for driver error a lot more. So that's why we go from a roll, to try and eliminate as much driver error as possible.

I agree, just more asshat wisdom from sick. READ ralli's cooling mods etc. and he just re-stated that it made a positive difference.
Sick... I have a question for you, in X gear @6500 rpm, are you making more or less power than Y gear @ 6500rpm????? Trick question, c'mon... whats the answer.

and asshat wisdom?? is that what they are calling it now a days? hmmm well lets think about this... i was saying that he would most likely be losing more power than gained... also yeah it all dpeends on mods.. so i mean yeah he has cooling mods... but saying that someone that is mostly stock... they are going to lose power unless they are running a smaller pully or something along those lines...

I have respect for ralli because i saw that post when he had first posted it because not alot of people go about modding their car like that alot of people go and say... hey im gunna throw out as much power on a smaller pully until my car blows up..

Listen Rippin.ive been around here to learn alot and you havent so you need to sit back and learn more about these cars

one of the mods ive been throwing around is replacing the resonator in my GMPP with a whisper quiet muffler, and putting an electric cutout in my downpipe.

best of both worlds, I love the sound of the GMPP, but with my header/catless setup it could use another muffler to tone it down.

but then having the cutout would give me the performance too.

that being said, i dont think a cutout would be a good mod if your below 240-250hp

just my thoughts on it anyway.
