Q: "What is that thing running, a V6?"
A: "No, Supercharged Inline 4."
Q: "Really?"
A: "Yep"
Q: "Do you have to run Premium?"
A: "Nope"
Q: "Is it quick?"
A: "It's alright" (downshift and stomp the go pedal)

Within the first couple weeks I had my car, I was driving home at like 1:30 Am and had a guy ask me if it was "an 12 or V8"
I think the guy might not have known cars too well and assumed the double round tail lights on each side meant a Ferrari. I know far fetched, but the only explanation I can think of.

Q: Whats that popping noise coming from my exhaust while i downshift?
A: Afterfiring, where unburnt gas thats being pumped in comes in contact with the exhaust and manifold and ignites creating a "pop"(this is not backfiring )

Ummm...

Q: "Do you have to run Premium?"
A: "Nope"
Was that a serious reply? I know the manufacturer suggests premium, and I would assume KR would be likely if running lower octane gas, at least during the summer. Is this not correct?

EDIT:
I read some other threads and see that many of you just say "it won't hurt the car". I bet this is mostly true, but not entirely. I know with the Regal it is not good to run less than premium unless; The conditions and mods on the car will allow lower octane to be run without the PCM ever registering KR/pulling timing OR you are easy enough on the gas to avoid KR-causing situations. Sure, KR is intended to help reduce knock and keep the engine from predetonating, but if you are running low octane and the PCM is constantly having to make adjustments and pull timing, it will not be good for the motor.

So, with my Regal, my policy is this. If the weather is cool enough, I put on a larger pulley and scan the car with lower-octane gas. If I get 0 KR, I will keep running that octane until conditions change. If I get ANY KR, I will go to a higher octane or larger S/C pulley until I see 0 KR. I bet this rule of thumb would work well for the Cobalt S/C as well.

The owners manual states that 87 may be used but for best performance use 91. It probably pulls the timing and has the relief valve release some of the extra boost, just like it does if you put a smaller pulley on without the "bolt bypass" trick.

For those unaware the "bolt bypass" is a trick that prevents the extra boost from being released. It consists of removing the vacuum line from the vacuum canister attached to the supercharger and pluging the line with a 1/4" bolt, hence the name.

Interesting. There is a bypass on the M-90 on the L67 but it is still considered hazardous to get any KR at all, since the computer is still having to dynamically decided whether and how much timing to pull. Perhaps they did some extra work to ensure that pre-ignition wouldn't be an issue on the LSJ. I'd love to learn more. Also, the "boost bypass mod" on the L67 cars is considered to be mythical and of no benefit, even though there are many who claim it improves throttle response. I have heard much about the mod you speak of here though, with high regards, at least on this forum. I wonder what the major difference is there, as well.

I believe the Regal's owner manual says that lower octane can be used as well, but advises to use it only when necessary and when driving very unagressively or something to that effect.

Q: Can I add a blow off valve to my SS/SC.
A: The SS/SC already has a bypass valve intergrated into the M62 Supercharger.

Q: Whats the stock pulley size
A: 3.35 inches or 84 mm

Q: Whats the smallest pulley I can run without a shorter belt
A: 3 inches is generally the accept lowest size without the drive belt slipping

Q: What is that loud "bang" i get on a hard 1-2 shift, and is there anything I can do about it?
A: It is the engine slamming hard against the stock motor-mounts, torque braces solve the problem completely.

Q: Do I have a ghost in my trunk?
A: Possibly, but it is more likely that the sound you are hearing is the trunk latch doing a self-test.

Q: What is a good launch RPM on street tires?
A: 2-2500 produces the best results for me, when done while slipping the clutch just a little and rolling into the throttle.

Here's a biggie-

Q: What's up with the "wall" i get trying to go into gear occasionally?
A: Synchro issues- can be fatal to the tranny, get it checked SOON or even sooner than that if possible. (How do I know you might ask? My baby is in the shop waiting for a new transmission because a roll pin broke the last time that happened to me, and turned the internals to powder)

FAQ: How much are your monthly payments? How much will my payments be?
ANSWER: This question is hard to answer since it depends on so many variables (amount, term, down payment, rate, etc.) The best thing you can do is use an online payment calculator such as this one: http://www.lendingtree.com/common/bp...sourceid=33928

Note: The link above also gives recent interest rates

Calling them intercoolers has come to be accepted EVERYWHERE Randy so relax. All cars have aftercoolers if you want to be technical. Only twin turboed cars can have intercoolers and 99% of them don't, technically speaking.

He is right though about the location xskier it is located between the supercharger and intake. The heat exchanger for the INTERcooler is located between the radiator and a/c condensor.

Q: What do Cobalt SS/SC run stock?
A: 14.3 has been the fastest so far. Was tofu stock? If so then 14.1.
