Nikon or cannon depends on how much you have to spend

Any Canon Digital elph series... I have a SD450 but it is a little old... Amazing quality for a point and shoot. Plus they have a body on them instead of the plastic on the A Series (A650 too) that you are looking at...

For that price range, you might look into there "Advanced" P&S such as the Canon S5, Fuji FinePix S8000, FinePix S700, Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H7.

Also checkout www.dpreview.com they have TONS of review and info on digital cameras...

With Olympus you can't go wrong. They make some wonderful/affordable zoom cams !

What's the price range you're aiming for ?

I see now that the A650's price is between 280 and 320$.

Well for about 350$ you can get the Olympus SP-560 UZ which offers three times the A650's zoom
I've been using the Olympus C-8080 Wide Zoom for over two years now. The build quality is great and the image quality is awesome.

but that camera is too hefty. And you can add on lenses to this one if you want without a problem
