anyone ever use spray on fabric before (i want to two tone my backseat)

hey everyone,

I am looking online and im either going to get some spray on fabric or take it to a place and have them refabric it. I was doing research and came across this stuff and i wasnt sure if it would work or not. Some people say online it works good other people say just take it in and have the shop do it. My back seat in my car is light color and i just added black racing seats so i want to add some black on the seat to make it flow better.

dupli color vinyl carpet spray

What do you think?

well i got the money but its just expensive to have them just pull out the sides of my seats and redo it in black. Im looking at alot of cash so i was just seeing if there was a better way to do it.

I will probably get it done professionally, i was just getting opinions on this stuff.

Why don't you do this, seeing as you will probably have a professional do it anyway:

Buy the stuff, try it out. If it works, great, you saved yourself a bunch of money. If not, who cares, the professionals will be covering it up anyway. Try the stuff out and let us know how it works...

general rule of thumb: cheaper is never better.

go with the professional install, unless you like your painted seats to leave marks on the backs of your friend shirts.

all that does is put a coating over the fabric. the nature of fabric is to be flexible and will not hold any type of paint well. the only thing i would reccommend is soaking the cloth in dye for a few days, then washing it multiple times, then dying agian, then washing.. repeat the process till the fabric is the desired color and DOES NOT bleed. but that can be a tedious process, and getting it professionally done would yield much better results.

Ok first of all im in no way saying the spray would come anywhere near professional results, BUT this stuff doesnt just "put a coating over the fabric." If you were trying to two tone your seats with krylon fusion that may be the case, but this stuff is made to dye the fabric rather than add a layer of color over the fabric.

Ive had numerous friends use this stuff (only the black though, so im not sure how the color paint is gonna work out for you) and every time its yielded successful results. I'd say go for it if i were you... Like said above.. worse case scenario you are out the money for the paint and you can have a professional cover up your boo boo. No problem (assuming you have the money to spend)

but really how would the black be any different from the other colors. It wont match the black perfrect like on my dash and door trim because that is like a dull black but i will eventually change it that too if it doesnt flow. I just hate my back seats now as it doesnt match at all with my black racing seats which look awesome.

I would highly recommend getting this done professionally with material instead of paint.

Personally, I want to try to make the inserts on all four seats yellow microsuede and the center "stripe" on the rear seat silver microsuede, but we'll see what happens. I have a feeling you guys are going to love my interior when I'm done. I'll be sure to post how-to's on everything I do.

I found some spray like this at Advance the other day that was for all interior surfaces, including fabric. If any of you do your fabric with it I'd love to see pics!

When you're looking up how many cans it took, see if you can remember what you used to paint the A pillars. The hardest part about this for me is trying to find paint that matches the stock dash so the pillars don't look out of place...
