Jack+wet conditions = not good :(

A friend of mine was workin on his ss s/c and jacked it up from the front when the jack mechanism slipped off the front cross member and pushed up, what I can diagnose, the heat exchange unit, pinched the left side pipe of the heat exchange unit, cracked both the lower and higher points of the radiator fan and a few other minor things. I'm no rocket scientist on these cars so I told him to get a professional diagnostic via a dealer or something. Does anyone know if this car will be drivable? We started it and it started up just fine. My concern is making boost while driving and the heat exchange unit not working normally 'causing a drastic increase in engine temperatures. I'll see if I can get pictures up soon. I appreciate the help guys. Thanks.

you answered your own question. driving the car and boosting without a proper working HE will make the motor spit connecting rod's. or melt a piston.. have the car towed to the dealer. and have the guy claim it on his insurance cause it will for sure be above 500 to fix..

with him claiming it on his insurance. How would that work? just file a claim as if it were an 'accident'?

dosent have to be an accident. but it can be claimed as a loss.. since it was his fault he can either bite the bullet and pay outta pocket or call his insurance company and see what they say. may not even end up affecting his insurance.

It sounds like it happened AS it was being jacked up. Either way, common sense should say whenever you're relying on a jack to get the car off the ground, make sure the ground is clean, dry, and level enough for the jack to stay put.

I really doubt insurance would cover that, but it's worth a shot. It will count against him as if it were and at-fault claim (single car accident) and he'd still have to pay whatever his deductable is.

Actually the PCM will disable boost if the AIT2 temp gets to high, it's no gaurentee but it's something.

And for reference.

1st radiator is the AC condenser
2nd radiator is the HE for the aftercooler
3rd radiator is the engine coolant

Doesn't anybody use the stock jack points on the sides of the car like it says in the manual?
I mean, it's not like they are huge either, but at least they have the little nipple bump to stay in a jack...

Here is some advice....tell your friend to jack the car up in the proper spot designated on the car and he won't have this problem anymore.

And as everyone else said....get the car towed....don't drive it and risk anymore problems.

DO NOT DRIVE THAT CAR. is it our fault you AND your friend dont know to even look at the owner's manuel when doing work on a car.. and dont say you two douche bag's are mechanic's. cause if ya do you would NEED to go back to school.. does a lift EVER put the lift pad's in front of the front wheel's??? NO!!!!!!! it's allways in between the front and rear wheel's..

A little more advice for you as well. Try not to be such an ass to people and you will get help. Needless to say you have come across as an arrogant person and people will not forget this and will constantly remind you of how you acted this time around. And when you need help....it will be hard to come by.

Just be careful what you say and how you say it. Telling people you are going to "rape the s**t outta your gay ass" does not do much to getting help.

lol. Coming from the forum that thinks they're the ****? I had initially asked for some advice and was given sarcasm and told to get a sense of humor. Don't worry, other ss s/c owners think this site is a ******* joke to. Congrats, you're all tools.

what makes you feel that your pissy contribution to this forum allows you to walk in, demand instant service, correct advice, and nothing else to clutter up your instant request.
this isnt the GM dealership, and your not paying us $90 an hour.

take your jackstands and shove em.
Im surprised anyone even offered you advice at all.
