I'm trying to hook up an led light so that it activates when the car shuts off. I'm fairly certain I have to use a relay that is open when the car is running , then closes (to complete the circuit) when the car shuts off.

I was just wondering in terms of relays and/or diodes, what the simplest way to do this would be. I've done some reading up solenoids and relays, but am not positive what type I really need.

Also, what do you think the best power source would be, I'm guessing the sunroof, since it isn't constant power.

i dont really know how to wire leds but why would you want one when the car is off? kinda weird.

I wanted to hook up leds in the door handles, facing inward that came on when i clicked the 'unlock' button or activated my command start. But that would involve wiring them to my running lights, or maplights since thats all that turn on when my car starter unlocks the doors.
