So I ordered some tires... (Falken Ziex ZE-912)

I was running around getting quotes on some new tires, so I decided to stop by discount tire. I decided that I wanted to go with some 235/40/18s, and the guy at discount hooked me up with some Falken Ziex ZE-912. At first they were $136/each and he dropped it to $115/each; $60 mounting/balancing; so after tax it came up to $559.65.

I put down $100 deposit for right now, and he ordered them from Falken directly. They should be in by next Friday, and I'll probably head in on the Tuesday after that (day off from work).

So is anybody running these tires? How are they? Do they grip?

Thanks in advance.

Thats funny because i just got some of those on Mon. Well i ordered them last week but they were delivered on Mon. They look like a nice tire i hadnt had the chance to have them mounted yet but i cant wait.
I think i paid 455.00 shipped for my 235 / 40 / 18
I dont know if they will grip as good as the stock tires due to the ware rating. Its a little harder compound but i went a little wider so im thinking that will make up the differences for me.

I had the 512s (the older version), and they gripped pretty good not quite as good as the stock ss/sc pirellis but did much better in the snow and ice!

So I'd imagine the 912s being just as good!

Sweet man...thanks a lot for the pics. Yeah, I gotta wait about a week and a half until i'm mounted, so if you get yours on any sooner let me know. I hope it's not too much to ask, but since you got the same size as I did, I'd really appreciate it if you could take another picture of the side of the tire; just so I can see how the sidewalls look. Thanks!

So I got them installed today:

I'll take some better pictures after I wash it on Tuesday... First impressions: well it was raining as hard as fck when they finished, so I put them to the test. ...er tried to, at least. Being a brand new tire, they sucked ass in the rain, but after some spinning and breaking in, they seemed to grip pretty decently in the rain.

Tonight after I got off of work, it was finally dry. Man going from a 215/35 to a 235/40 made a huge difference in comfort. The ride is so much smoother and these Falkens are sooo quiet. I took some harder curves and compared to my old Nankangs, the Falkens did a pretty good job of resisting slipping.

Those tires are ******* awesome for what they are.

I run BFG KDW-IIs now and they seem to have unlimited grip but the Falkens are a ******* GREAT tire for the $$$

Ohh yeah...that price made it 1000x better.

Idk if it's just becuase I went to a taller sidewall, but when I drive a little aggressive, it seems like the sides of the tires are flexing and my car feels like it's "floating." I hope someone understands what I mean. I'm figuring its becuase I went from a 35 to a 40 series...

It is all in your head with the floating.

You are talking about such a minimal taller tire...

hmmm that's what I figured...maybe I'm not used to the smoother ride. I would feel every bump before and now I don't.

Well, you know I also changed widths too... 215/35 > 235/40... so it's not soo minimal.

Do you think I'll have any problems convincing them to do it?

Got mine installed also. First impressing was sloppy but i think i like them now. I went from the factory tires which were slicks lol ruff and all to these. I still don't have any grip but all i have is a bit wider but a harder compound. For the price and experiences so far i really like them. I will have to drive on them awhile and give update.

You'll have to pay for it. My dealership said $45. I have 225/40/18's Kumho Ecsta AST's on my LS. My reflash will be coming soon.

Sorry i wasnt trying to be a dick either i just read my post and it sounded like it was but yes the link you sent was of the 235's i just clicked on it but they are the same price as what i paid for them. $101 ea. Mine was 455 shipped.

You might be thinking of the one that started this post. I paid 50 for mount and balance so a total of 505 is what i have in it.
