So I was leaving Lethbridge to go back to Edmonton for reading week and I got pulled over for having tint on my front windows. I was given a $57 ticket :nono:. The cop said if I don't take off the tint I face another $114 ticket, plus a $300 ticket for some other bs of not obeying a police officer and my car will be toed and I'll have to prove to the cop that I had the tint removed. My tint isn't even that dark its 35% all around. What a great way to start spring break!

If I got this ticket in Edmonton or Calgary I would just pay it and not take off the tint because chances of me seeing that same cop again would be pretty slim, but in Lethbridge all the cops do is baby sit you, and I know I'll run into him again. I drive the only blue SS/SC in the city and my car sticks out like a sore thumb :thumbsdow Looks like my tint is going bye bye:bye::bye:

i moved to edm, from lethbridge. to avoid the cops.
life wasnt so bad til i sold this guy a car.
i drove it to his house, parked, he drove it around the block, he paid me.
he called me next day saying tranny blew, i was like oh well 500 dollar c ar.
he replied i am seargant blah blah. every party i threw, they were there, i got a 104 km, in a 100, and took it to court and lost. pulled over daily, was driving a supra at the time, so i guess god was punishing me for a non chevy. at any rate, you are right, they tell all hteir buddies, and they sit at the legion by 3rd ave and mayor magrath, and watch you round the corner........boom. fines. or sit in the dark by henderson. bastards.

oh oh oh, edit:: i forgot, i hooked up with this chick, she was hot, i was driving her home and she asked me to walk her to the door.
a lil goodnight smoochin and the light came on. it had been a year since i was there . guess whos house(daddy). OMFG.

This guy was sitting in the Nick Sheradan boat launch parking lot on McMaster and he got me, I can not wait for school to be done for the semester so I can graduate and never have to go back. Looks like the tint is coming off this week because I know I just became a heat bag.

wow that is a gay cop! tint laws are actually secondary laws and you cant even get pulled over for your tint unless you were doing something else wrong (speeding, swerving, etc.)

Are you sure your laws apply the same up here??

It is different up here Mark. The cops can pull you over for just the tint here, it is not a "secondary law". But I find if you have tinted windows that unless you give the cop a reason to pull you over (speeding for example), they will just leave you alone. Unless of course they are having a bad donut day...then you are screwed either way. LOL :D

Laws are different in every state and province. Here in Alberta you are not allowed to have any tint on the two side windows or the windshield. However any window that is behind the driver you can put as dark of a tint as you want.

The cops here will pull you over for tint on ur drivers/passenger window and you MUST take your tint off or face a $114 fine and have your car impounded if you choose not to remove said tint:thumbsdow:cussing:.

Thats what happened to me, they had a check stop for infractions on Gaetz Ave downtown, they had soem plain clothed cop stand on the street and radio ahead to report possible infractions.. They say its about safety but I say money money money grab..

Jesus i hate insecure cops...well..cops in general i guess...

that sounds like bullshit dude...i dont think they can pull you in for that. I would get a hold of an attorney and see if he's pulling your chain...if he is...sue his ass. NOT THE CITY...him

When i got pulled over for my tint i was told i had 2 options...

1. Take off the tint and take it to the judge Just pay the administrative fee of $25
2. Pay the full fine of $74 and it would be over and done w/

This is w/ 5% tint all around

you no what i do... take a picture of ur car before u put the tint on... and if u ever get a tint tickit just print out the picture without the tints n go to court n be like i have a picture to prove that i took off my tints and they usuly just take away the fine cuz thats all it is... Works for me n a couple of my friends.. just a suggestion though...

how can you tell its spring time and there's nice weather in Alberta?...

we havent heard ANYTHING all winter about bs tickets... now all of a sudden bam

After my window tint removal ordeal last spring and the thing in Sylvan I decided its not worth the hassel... I'm having nothing on my car that is visibly illegal (tint, plate covers, lights, etc).

It just drives me F-ing wild with anger when they pull people over for stupid shit like that. Everyday there's people out there doing 40 over the speed limit in their mini vans with three kids in the back, druggies on the street dealin and ruining lives and yet NOTHING is being done. But when some kid/guy, whatever, has window tint on... shit, its like they go out of their way to stop you. And for what? A argument and a $57 dollar ticket. Give me a break.

There sorry for ranting.

..umm not sure where you're from but that's how it is down here. i have 10% all around and 30% on the full front windshield. you can't even see through it during the daytime, but i've never been pulled over bc tint is a secondary law.

The tint is either LAWFUL or it's not. If OK, you will not have tint problems. If illegal and ESPECIALLY if you know it, it is 100% your fault if you get ito legal trouble with it. Don't badmouth the police officer for doing what he does, due to YOU breaking the law. If it's illegal,,, YPU take that chance when you use the highways. You already know the penalties (stated in your post) for further problems. Now it's up to you... If you drive in violation,, be ready to pay up (quietly) when you are caught. Pretty simple formula!

Unless you know your local cops real well, then you can make an agreement with them. Next time I get pulled over i can just say, "Well, myself and Sargent (soandso) have an agreement i can keep the tint on if i behave under the law."
