people are making me mad

what do you guys do when people copy modifications that you do to your car and then they do the same but i dont care sometimes but in this case there are 3 yellow sssc cobalts in this area and they all have different stuff from what i have done and i know i am first in doing the mods because they bought their car used or moved into the area from another place that doesnt have front license plate tags and mold theirs the same way i have mine or put stickers on the quarter windows like i have and say the same thing it just really erks me how do you all deal with it

That's a pet peeve of mine as well, but there is nothing you can do about it. Just keep moding and be happy with it.

I had a similar case happen here where I live, well, almost happen.

just take it as a compliment that you did something someone else liked enough to copy

sorry, can't relate. I'm from little old lebanon county pennsylvania. There are a few of us floating around but all different colors and different mods.

I do however have a love hate relationship with people not being able to tell the difference between LS and SS/SC. I hate the "cobalts are slow" comment when they don't really know what I have. They generalize where I'm from, that gets to me. Especially the riced out LS's we have here. One in particular is an orange one too (same color as me) and he tries to act hard when he sees me and I really want to get next to him and be like, "dude, don't try".

If it bothers you that bad you have 2 options. 1, get a really unique or difficult mod i.e. - I have a cobalt ss vynil on my 3rd tail light ( no other one like it in my town, I have body color matched headlights (no one in my town has anything but LED's or stock chrome), I have my stock rims painted (just the spokes with the lip still chrome, no one else has that either). Just use your imagination. Unique paint jobs are probably your best bet if you are desperate for a resolution.
Option 2, get a different car.

Well that plate setup you have is restricting airflow to your H/E....Hehe also there is nobody around my area with a Redline that even comes close to being as fast as mine.

I can relate. A kid down the street from me bought a black Cobalt LS. (I had mine first!). He has tinted his windows, Cut down his antenna too. I took it as a compliment. One of his buddys, with a V6 Mustang, kept flipping me off. So one day I followed him, to find out what his problem was. Come to find out he thought I was his friend. Man he was shaking the whole time we were talking, couldn't apploigze enough! Kid turned out to alright. Now he looks twice... , and waves when he sees its me. I have yet to speak to my cars clone yet, but he always gives me the up when we pass.

You know, there are only so many different combinations of low-budget mods that one can do without repeating what's already been done already: debadging, stickers, eyelids, painted headlights, cut down antenna, etc. Just live with it or come up with something new.

ya i don't particularly like it as well thats why if i do use a mod that someone else has done i try and put a unique twist on it or come up with something that nobody else has done yet. or as someone else said do harder and more expensive mods to help prevent it.

I could care less about the people who are now copying the mods I have done for my car.
I will even send them to the same shops I have used and tell them where I have bought the parts from.

That plate looks like it takes alot of airflow away from the coolers. Did someone copy that from you?

Form of flattery for me.. a lot of people like what i did with my GTP and copied some stuff.. not a big deal at all.

No one around here has another cobalt like mine... actually they are all stock looking pretty much.

dude...being original, is being a trend setter. i do things nobody else thinks of. i tell one person before or while i'm in the middle of the project, n bam, other people do it. i keep everything very hush hush now. but hey man, u gotta grin n bear it. my favorite though is when they say "Ya i came up with it myself, and now everyone follows me" even though they followed u. lol.

i'm always changing things because it gets played out. its kinda like clothes. u wear something n everyone is like "they look good" next week u see 3-5 people wearing the same shirt n jeans n shoes. then u switch em up. i'm always changing things.
