Anyone know how these headlights were done?

In this post:

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/show...4&postcount=60

How were these headlights done? Was it tint or nite shades spray?

I know the inside was painted black but that smoke job has me wanting to try it.

I'd appreciate that. I kind of want some projectors but mine is red just like the one I referenced there and I'm changing my mind fast

On one hand though.. When you look at the very last picture.. It sure resembles tinting of some sort... Hard to tell for me

I did. Just thought I'd ask here and maybe get a quicker response. The guy hasn't posted since mid November 2007 though.

@ Mines_Better:

I checked out your images...

Yours here:

looks very similar... but I think the other one is darker.. Might just be my eyes....

In the meantime..

Any tips on taking the headlight apart for painting? I know there's a How-To in the forums.
What tools did you use to take yours apart?

these pics arent that great since there is a huge flash right in front of them, making them light up. oh well.
just look at the turn signal in the pics. that part didnt catch the flash so its dark like it should be.

daytime pics would be better. these just dont work.

this first pic is the best one, but keep in mind that the reflectors are right cause of the flash.

i stuck mine UPSIDE DOWN in the oven at 200 degrees for 15 minutes and then used a flat head to CAREFULLY pry them apart. the glue can get stringy so make sure not to get any inside of the headlight.
i resealed them using a black sealant.

if your taking them apart definetly use the oven, make sure the 3 screws are out before you put it in the oven and i just used some old, cheap flat head screw drivers to help pry apart but be gentle as you can break the housing since it is quite soft now.

200 degrees for about 15 minutes eh..

I guess I'll give it a try. If it doesn't work out then I can always order some projectors I guess.
