yeah, i had this problem shortly after i purchased the car. i took it in and they hit the piping up and down with a hammer listening for rattles and bending heat shielding as they went. i watched the tech do it. so, it worked for about 4 miles down the road and started doing it again. i took it to work and put it on the lift and bend the shielding all the way along the exhaust and it worked for about a year.
this winter when it got cold out again it started rattling again. i put it in the air again and noticed that there is a lot of movement on the hangers. i could literally move the exhaust 6" front to back. doing this revealed to me where the rattle was coming from. there is a small piece of flex pipe between the cat and manifold. where it attaches at the top it was sliding up and down hitting a flange creating the irritating sound. i was hoping that when i buy my new exhaust that it will not have this cheap design and therefore not rattle.
hope this helps. if anyone has any tricks or tips until i can afford the exhaust, i would be more then happy to listen. i was thinking of getting a longer piece so it fit tighter eliminating the excessive slide action.
