Anyone Remember Me?

I haven't posted in awhile, mainly due to my SRT-4 being down for so long... But now it's back and running and meaner than ever. I'll be doing some tuning (pump gas only for now) this weekend having put about 500 miles on the engine on a very mild base tune.

Here's some engine pics for ya:

And a startup vid (completely untuned):

Click for Vid

I plan on getting a driving vid up soon.

So how are the 'Balt's running guys? Anyone here in the 12's or 11's yet?

Sounds bad ass. I was hoping that you would rev the engine a bit!

well that car just sounds scary. I bet there is a lot of money invested in this car to get it back up and running the way it is right now.

How long was the car down for anyways?

Damn. I figured you would have given up on that thing by now. Glad to see you got it all together. You should meet up with Blown 4-Banger at the track after he gets his Cobalt back together. That should make a very interesting race.

The map in the ECU at the time was barely enough to get the car running and get it on the trailer. It'd break up bad if I revved it much at all.

I need to get another vid up now that it's got a base tune.

The sad thing is the cage was put in over 2 years ago...

I'm actually not happy with the way the direct port lines look so I'm going to have a friend (who has a knack for it) redo them.

I'm using MSD coils but the ignition (if it ever gets here) is actually the AEM Twin Fire being controlled by the AEM EMS.

I'll have to check out ciaz.net

Nice, I hope to see some out at the tracks. I figured by now I'd be seeing alot more of these cars around town, but since I've got my car back together (January) I've seen two. A black one on Cactus near I-17 a few weeks ago and a yellow one parked at Fry's Electronics on Thunderbird yesterday. Where are y'all hiding at?

Car was down for just over 2 years total.

Whatever happened to the twin charged one, I figured with a decent set of slicks it'd have been in the 11's a long time ago?

I've been sold on the turbo thing... definitely the way to go. Glad to see GM finally realized that too. I'd bet the TC/SS gets to the 12's and 11's alot sooner than the SC/SS did.

Is he still building his car? Hasn't it been down just about as long as mine? What kind of power is he ultimately looking for?

I'm hoping to head back to the dyno in another week or two. I went last Sat but between the late start and not knowing how to configure the AEM's boost control we stopped after getting it tuned @ 15psi (the lowest possible boost). It made just over 340 whp on 15psi. Can't wait to turn it up and see what kind of numbers it puts down.

If you're in Az, esp the North-Valley between Bell Rd & Olive and 43rd Ave & 19th Ave keep an eye open for a black looking SRT-4 that shifts like it has an auto and idles rough sitting at the traffic light.

Looking for around 500whp on pump gas, 700whp on race gas (turbo only) 800+whp on race gas + nitrous.

He's been down since last Feb. or Mar. I think he was aiming for about 500whp on race gas. Not sure if that has changed since he got the nitrous sponsor. You can check out his build here https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/advanced-performance-modifications-130/official-blown-4-banger-build-updates-61070/ .

Be sure to let us know when you head to the track. I would love to see the beast in person.

Looks like his car will be interesting... That should definitely run in the 11's, if he doesn't have at least a bar, I'd be surprised if he doesn't run "get kicked off the track" numbers.

I'm dynoing next Friday afternoon, depending on how that goes I may be heading to Speedworld next Saturday evening.

Just out for a short cruise today and took some vid.

Click for Vid

There's 3 times where you hear I get on it a little bit.

1. 20psi 1st & into 2nd up to 50mph.
2. Part throttle through 1st on it in 2nd - 27psi (not intentionally, WG line came loose) 0 - ~55 mph
3. Part throttle (~30%) 1st & 2nd up to 50mph

Damn. Nothing better than coming up behind a car and seeing a huge fuel pump instead of a giant fart can. That's how you know they mean business.

You (pump gas) vs. Me (Race gas + N20) should be a decent race

You probably won't need the nitrous

Well on race gas with the stock blower, I only expect to make ~380 whp, so add 100 hp of nitrous and we get 480 whp on race gas and n20.

I thought you were going to make 500ish on racegas? Obviously not with the stock blower.

Why go with a bigger supercharger, just add a BIG turbo.

Because, I would actually like to have power below 5000 rpm

That's why you leave the stock supercharger on there

Besides if your power goals are 400 on pump & 500 on race, a DBB 50 trim will get you that, and you'll be fully spooled up on the street right around 3k rpm, without the supercharger helping. And if you're really worried about turbo spool, a small shot of nitrous will spool it up in a hurry

Thats not possible with a 2.0L. Plus I HATE BLOW OFF VALVES!!!!

P.S. I also want power below 3000 rpm
