BTW - Venom, how far did they compress to get 125 lb/in? John posted the rates for the stock TC at various spring lengths, but I can't find the post. It was in the suspension forum.

1.0in IIRC.
McColl Racing Enterprises - A Premium Manufacturer Of Race Car Chassis And A Supplier Of The Best High Performance Parts On The Market did it for me. They did a bunch of work on our Super Stock over the winter.

Yes, I also read somewere about 450's max for the Koni Yellows.

Man, 125lb doesn't sound like much! Venom09, how much are you paying for the bigger springs? Also, I put on the new OTTP rear sway bar and my car likes it very much, and so do I

The rate probably change over the stroke of the spring. Stocks are supposed to begin at 160 and finish at 230 lbs/in rate iirc. Even canuck motorsports springs are supposed to be 150 lbs/in initial rate, so a 125 lbs/in for the pedders is strange.

Compress more to get the main rate. Better yet, find the compressed length at rest, and compress to that length, and start from there. Here's John's post about the stock spring rates:

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/5800527-post23.html

John's mentioned that the main rates of the Pedders and stockers are similar, but the curve is different. One can only assume that it means the rear springs ramp up quicker.

Makes sence now. The droop with soft initial rate was hurting me on Mosport GP, but was fine for the DDT.

so with these wheels do you think a 265 tire would fit on the car? Since STX fron wheel drive can use 265s.

I still have camber issues I haven't adressed yet,1.7* just isn't gonna get it done. I want plates but don't wanna hack up the strut tower or buy junk and right now those are the only options that I see. But outside of that I don't think 265s would be an issue. I'd like to go with a 265/235 staggered setup next year but i'd have to give up the hankooks and I really like them. Fingers crossed for a 265 hs3 in the next 6 months and I'll run dunlops rear!

Do you think if you went with coilovers it might allow for more room since they tend to have smaller shock bodies? Sorry I should just make and STX section lol

like a nationally competitive build as in 1000lb rear springs and all? OOooOOOhh. I'm sure ypu would have more clearance with the coilovers but, have never done it so can't say 100%. Ya, make a STX thread and we all can share some info!

1000 seems a bit high but all depends on the swaybar and coilover setup. i would say about 850, but have some 1000s just in case lol

With coilovers there a bit more room. This I can vouch for but you need to seriously spend money to get a good set. Stance, pedders, megans, and all the rest of the coilovers out there are plain junk. I went to bedders from stance and what a difference. The only thing I miss is having dampening adjustment but for the price it is what it is. I don't think the coilovers would have handled the springs I wanted especially in the rear. Im working on getting koni to build me stuff. Will probably get it over the winter time.

I might talk to ground control to see if they could make a coilover set for the cobalt. Koni yellows and ground controls are always a good combo.

ground controls would be your best option. all the coilovers have smalls o.d's and smaller spring seats as they pretty much rest on the collars.
