Thumbs up 1st Autocross Experience

I did an SCCA Autocross school this past weekend. There were about 35 cars that showed up. It was a really short course consisting mainly of slaloms and a Chicago box. They are limited on what they can do as they're set up on a two lane strip at an old airport. They have longer courses with more for the regular events. I am in the D Street class. I'm stock aside form a K&N drop in filter, and I'm running Gmax AS03 tires that have a 480 treadwear rating. There were 4 other cars in my class. There was a 2016 WRX, Mini Clubman S, Audi A3, and an Audi S4. The best time of the course was a 16.9 by a 240SX with an SR20 swap. My best was an 18.08, and one of the instructors ran a 17.5 in my car with me riding. His time in my car was the 3rd fastest of the day. He drives a 370Z and his time in my car was 0.1 faster than his time in another guy's Nismo 350Z. I had a blast and definitely want to do more events.

Sounds like the start of a new hobby
If you're on facebook, you may consider joining our Cobalt road racing and auto-x group!
There's lots of knowledgeable and helpful folks in there, without the usual FB drama!
Just do a search for "Cobalt Road Racing and Auto-X" and it should pop up

I requested to join the facebook group. They said that they made the course so short so everyone could get 6 runs and they could finish up in time to set up the course for the points event the next day. I could have ran all day if they would have let me. Lol

Understandable. I haven't been very active on here, mainly just joined for information and have been a lurker. I plan on doing a few autocross events this summer and will use this and the facebook group. I'm sure I'll have some questions and share my experience.
