Help with figuring out what class I am...
Ok. So I've read all though the SCCA rule book, but I just want to be sure...
I'm pretty sure I am SMF, since that seems to be just about anything you can do without going completely over the top, at least for the Cobalt world.
Seems like the main thing putting me there is the smaller supercharger pulley, since the other classes don't let you touch that, correct?
And yeah, I'm now finding it would have been smarter to stay stock, but meh. I already did the mods, and now want to get into autocross, at least enough to see what I can do.
I can post up my full mod list list, but that's the only one I'm not sure about.
Thanks!

Sounds about right. Anytime you turn up the boost you fall right into SMF. Its the same class I'm in.
Btw, I noticed your from Chicago. You should come up and autocross at Miller Park sometime. A few Cobalts usually show up. Infact, I will be at the October event there.

I'd love to show, but our boat has been in drydock for the past 2.5 months and next weekend is the weekend we float it and take it home :-/.
I'll be around Chi Town sometime later in October for Sean to swap out mah clutch. Drinking of Rumchata, Jegermeister and Fourloko will commence.

Not true. In a turbo car increasing boost is perfectly legal. Judging by the mods in your sig, you are legal to run in DSP.

Right from the 2011 rule book...
Page 102, 15.10
f) Boost regulation systems, either electronic or mechanical, and
electronic fuel cuts referencing boost pressure may be altered
or modified except as prohibited herein. Boost pressure changes
resulting from authorized changes are permitted.
D. Traction and/or stability control systems, as defined in 12.11
It was recently changed, I believe for 2010 or 2011, I am not sure.
Although they do specifically prohibit changing supercharger pullies...
c) No changes are allowed to supercharger drive system pulleys.
Belt tensioners may be added/changed to reduce belt slip.
But changing of blow-off valves is even allowed now....
e) Compressor bypass valves (CBVs) are considered part of the
air intake system and may be added, replaced, or updated/
backdated independently of the other components of a forced
induction system.

Smaller than stock pulley puts you in SM or SMF. FYI, INR-SCCA.org runs cheap events at Majestic Star Casino (one this weekend same day as the meet, oh well). I will be running in the Chicago Region Dual event Oct 15 & 16th. Last Chicago event there was only one other Delta (T/C) and he was noobier than me (he was in DSP).

If you've changed a supercharger pulley, you're in SM of SMF.
But rest assured, you're just going out there to have fun because if you aren't on 285 or wider slicks, 10" wide rims, and major suspension changes, you won't be competitive in SM, SMF or DSP.
So go have fun and don't worry too much about the SCCA details..
