picked up some nice Sparco Evo2 seats today. 32lbs for both. that will help. and way more comfy than my old metal tube and spring corbeau in there now. Now I just gotta figure out the best way to mount them.

I saw those. Would I need those brackets + the sparco side mounts? The wedge website is a bit vague, and has no actual photos of the mounts.

The wedge brackets are like the brand planted where it's the base bracket that you bolt your side brackets onto. The base bracket just gives a surface to mount from car floor to side seat bracket

Powell makes some brackets for sparco seats. I like mine definitely thicker than the other options out there. I compared them to the corbeau ones fyi.

By the narrowest of margins, I managed FTD against this turbo Miata today. He got me yesterday.

A video of my fastest run.

I'm currently running an E85 tune by MikeM. First gear still needs to be turned down a bit as you can see in the video.

Luckily I'm in second gear after the start on 90% of the courses. There is enough torque to pull out of most corners and enough gear to not shift into third. I've logged up to 70mph in second gear at about 6500rpm. I should probably do valve springs at some point to raise it a bit more.

I miss those. stepped back to RS3's this year to shake the car out for time attack over autox, but i liked the 'kook slicks over hoosiers.

for time attack an a compound is where its at. usually you will run your fastest laps within the first 8 and that's when I find the r compounds to just start heating up

I think you'll be fine on the LSJ knuckles, just ask Foximus I'm sure he's still on the stock ones and has driven his car harder than most ever have.

In development, the lsj stock knuckles broke at a place called the >toilet bowl> at the GM Proving grounds test track. Only one instance. But the race cars were all built with the G6 knuckle and upgraded grand am wheel bearings and special axles . The stock LSJ knuckle will fracture between the strut bolt mounting bolts if crashed on a curb or somesuch.. The upgraded G6 or LNF ones will bend not break nor will the arms, (they will bend instead) and the cradle will yield as well when crashed. Thats my experience.

Only suspension failure I ever have had was a shock. But Ive done well with not hitting things with the front of the car >__>

So I have a guy at work talking to me about building a custom carbon sunroof plug to get rid of the glass+ track. Looking like for the carbon work and the mounting pieces right around $500. Its very tempting. It would be nice to pull weight out of hte car that high up.

I've logged something in the area of 8000 track miles on my RL, about half of those on slicks, no fails on steering knuckles. I'm not overly shy of climbing the curbs on track either.

Thats what I am trying to figure out. Its still being mulled over. Also discussed maybe just changing the glass for carbon, heh. Car comes back from the shop tonight, gotta do an oil change and brakes this weekend, may pop the head liner and try and pull it just to see what it weighs.

My very rough guess is 20 pounds? Between the glass and the steel track, and the motor. Becomes a "is it worth $500 to pull that from the top?" Im trying to figure out ways to get more weight out from the car to help against the legion of Honda's I'm up against at time attack, heh.
