so what would you guys thing (if there's only going to be a small group of us) of stopping in @ Banff Hot Springs? ~ it would be something like $8/per...
It's looking like we'll use Banff as the mid point, at which point, we can either do something cheap for lunch, or hit a sit down resuraunt...
map pending...

Here.. how's this look for a tentative schedule?
MapQuest Maps - Driving Directions - Map
(I tested it once, hopefully this works!)
this would put us back at Banff for lunch-ish, at which point we could do the hot springs, or go check out some other stuff... Mark's really good on knowing what around there is worht checking out - personally the only times we went out the the mountains as a kid, it was to go to Kananaskis, moreover Bow Falls...

my only thoughs are;
1) how cool is it going to be
2) how much time should we alot for stops
3) only two hours of road time (and lets say an hour of bs'ing), still put us at getting to Banff at before 12pm...
so we'll see.
I'll look into walkie-talkies this week... I'm pretty confident I can wrangle some up...

so i have one issue to throw out there, the mountains has been getting 20cm of snow on a nightly basis in some cases, driving to lake louise on summer tires in may could be risky if they get dumped on, so i will have to cut out if weather turns south as we get deep in. Im also kind of worried about taking the car for a 6 hour drive haha, it hasnt been tested driving that much since ive rebuilt the motor

ok at this time of year we all know it can dump a ton of snow over night.... however if it is a small amt of snow the roads are clear soon as the sun comes up.... as for the hotsprings i never seen any bathing suits bleached before.... i been there many times with multi colored shorts.... sylver *****!!!!! hahahahahaha see the reality is we have control on whatever we do.... if we decide to go in the hotsprings then we also can decide to take a hr or two to walk around town and wake up again.... as for photo ops and places of pict taking it is all in my head and jonathan isn't really able to put all stops on the map.... some are just spots on the side of the road and the map quest wont allow him to mark it as a stop.... i believe we can make enough stops and have enough cool down time on your car tjay to help with the break in of that rebuild.... i believe the longest your car will run without a cool down is maybe 1 hr max.... however with all the individuals coming i am sure we can make sure you get home safely.... even tho i may not have a car i am still looking forward to this trip, the mountains look perfect lately....

At what nice about us going in may is the mountains still have snow on them so for the pics it'll make them look sweet. I will see tomorrow about walkie talkies. as for tjays car, we can accommodate a stop every once in a while

iiirc they work on many of the same frequencies as CB-radios...
A couple of the car clubs i have been involved with report that having these really add to the fun of a cruise, because everyone can talk while driving...
I only repeat myself because I know exactly what you mean;
the first stop is 41 minutes, or 67km's;
if we go to LL, that leg is 1 hour and sixteen minutes, or 106km's...
I tried to look at it this way;
A long one-way drive (regaurdless of how many stops we make) spells a looong day, and more gas than most people would probably want to shell out (especially @ $1.20~1.30/L)...
The full road time of this trip (less stops; which assumes a start & finish at the COP McDonalds) is roughly four hours, or 350km's...
The forecast, and group with both be used to adjust the route as seen fit... which is why we should all meet at the start, instead of trying to meet at one of the points...
