Rear axle

Ok guys got a question. Here going I have an 06 ss supercharged and I need a rear axle beam the only ones I can find are off a reg cobalt with drum brakes and 4 bolt, can you take off the hub assembly cause it just looks like its bolted on and change it with the one from the ss would it work ?????

i think you would need a really good welder, they have to weld a bunch of parts together to make it work with the 5 lug. its really inconvenient if you ask me. i had to change rear axle beams and ran into problems because the 5 lug was so difficult to find but a good friend found one with brand new rotors, pads everything almost new for $150 shipped to my house! look around and look for the best deal. dont go to the dealer, they wanted like $1000+ for one when i asked.
