havnt had a chance to test it out at ANY speed fun. Rear tires are too bald to push. New ones go on at 1pm today. Then allow for break in period. I usually like to give tires a few hundred miles before pushing them. Idk if its worth it or not. I know bike tires are skiddish until you wear them in. I figured same for car tires

Haha, with John you never know

I would like to get some insight from him on the GMR head.
Mines slow one by one, and even slower together. I am interested in this grease and where its applied thats been brought up here.

I asked John about head building while I was there. He said a good set of dual coil springs, said make sure its dual coils not single, port only exhaust side of head, stock cams.

There are not enough good things to say about John and Gloria.

When I was having an issue with my car last summer and wasn't sure where to turn I called John. He answered on the second ring, listened to me (so important), calmed me down, made his recommendation then passed me to Gloria. She overnighted the parts that I needed which fixed EVERYTHING, just as John said it would. John followed up with several PMs and phone calls.

Now let me ask you, look at the venders on this site. How many of them can you get to talk to you on the phone? Of those, how many of them understand your car as well as John does?

Thanks for the info man.

Yeah, exhaust ported head is the way I wanted to go.... Along with the Supertech 78lb springs (dual coils).

Hmm, stock cams are best?!? I was going to go with Comp/ZZP S2. They are very close to GMR cam specs w/o the need for solid lifters.

I ran the s2 zzp cams on a tvs car two consecutive weeks at the dyno. The tuner (SSKev) here is very good, and closer to me than Area47 who has done most of my tunes.
ZZP were very good with the cams, they dialed in perfectly (Turbo tim had checked that for me) and after installing 80 injectors, produced 323 whp on premium pump gas.

Idle smooth, at 900. nice job from sskev. ac off.

Is there a down side?

torque peak is just below 5,000 rpm/ and power does not run out at redonkulous revs, but Kev worries, as he says the maf runs out of scale. whatever that means.

this is a great 1/4 mile set up, short geared and run to 8000 rpm.But I would not use these cams in an autox , track or dd car unless I was a masochist.

the choice for smooth idle is ac on or off. One can tune to work smooth ac on, then ac off it behaves like a John Force saturday nite special. Very cool though, think about it:

So with a click of the ac switch, u can get all the evening meet car guys quivering with a
"cammer tvs" LSJ Cobalt, and they can all nod their heads and be happy. Then you can click the switch and drive home in traffic with a decent idle at the lights.

However, as nice as the numbers came out on pump gas, the car just cant roll race a 4.45 stock cammed TVS or M62 is all, coz its born to lose. When it comes to racing, its time to torque.

Thanks for the great info on the cams John!

I think I'll stick with stock cams, and just do an exhaust ported head, 78# dual coil valve springs, and a 7.5k rev limiter. My power peak with the H62 is just over 7k even on the stock cams, so the extra revs, and flow from the ported head should def help.

You have me wanting to hang on to my Cobalt now.

^ good choice.

John any connections that could do rotors for a m62 to make it a H62 clone? or not worth it on a dead platform + poor, scratch that, cheap, balt owners?

There is a guy on the redline forums that was starting a design for higher twist rotors that would fit in the M62 housing.

The thread hasn't been updated with info in months though.

I actually talked to Eaton BITD around 2006 and they blew me off pretty much. Prototyped for the GM program, very very expensive to make, no more money to put into it, no intention or volition to re create; talked to Magnusson as an alternative to get ideas, and all I found was a guy bitter as heck about GM, Eaton etc and being burned in business dealings. Harrop did a nice job and they are pita to deal with but do ship, do take money, do grab 3% extra for credit cards, and it does cost a lot to get anything from Oz to here. But Harrop make nice TVS blowers that work well...

so NO.

This right here makes me want to hang on to my H62 now....

I always new it was rare, but being there is really no chance it will be recreated makes me want to never let it go.

John and Gloria have done a great job every time I've dealt with them. Running Powell XYZ springs and Hard Core rear sway bar. Very predictable at the limits.
