Yep, the tread isn't as wide currently as my 235's on a 8" rim.

I like them, I'm sure a 15 would be better due to more sidewall but I don't need that much sidewall in my opinion . It dead hooked with 12psi in them

It's not just about sidewall. Overall height is huge. Guarantee you will be faster with a shorter tire but will consequently need a smaller wheel for the smaller slicks.

But if hooking is sketchy, the bigger contact patch a taller tire gives you, may make a difference. Short tires don't give you much other than just the tread width to hook with. The difference in contact patch from the 29x12's I have on the nova verses the 235-40 I have on the cobalt, is huge. Granted the 29's are way wider, but still.

Anything is possible I suppose but I have yet to see 60' times on these taller tires comparable to those that run 24.5 tire. Until then, the shorter tires have proven best even with 8.5-9 tread width. Hell, I'm almost 1.7 with a friggin hhr on 24.5.

Not knocking your setup at all banana, its badass that your low 12s with stock turbo and damn good trap speeds relative to your mods. I just think there is almost another 1/10 in your 60 with shorter tire.

I agree, he is doing really well. You have to go with what works. Hopefully at some point I will try the 26" slicks also.
