2nd gear syncro

Arggg,

So, at 47k miles my second gear syncro just went out! I checked the linkage and it is adjusted properly, 2nd gear grinds unless i double clutch and rev match. Going in to the dealership this week, hopefully all goes well.

Autonation chevy North. Closest Chevy to me. I took it to Johnson auto plaza in the past and they took 3 weeks to fix a boost leak from faulty boost tubing. So, I don't trust them anymore, that and there hours suck. This place I can drop it off and catch the bus to work.

Yeah, Johnson's is not that bad, they just don't seem to know the cobalt platform really that well. but maybe nobody does now. I live in Commerce City so they are the closest to me. I am just hoping my warranty is honored and I do not get the run around.

I tried to get Len Lyall to honor my Powertrain warranty for transmission noise but they could never hear it conveniently, and then my powertrain ran out.

let me know how that goes.

Kind on topic, does our reverse gear have synchros? I'm 90% sure it does. My TC grinds unless I put it into a forward gear before reverse.

3 other Delta cars in the past and of course it happens on my newest one. Also have warranty till November or so.

my LNF does this too sometimes. I get into the habit of putting it in first, then reverse. my LSJ did the same thing

Yeah, I would have preferred them replacing it, but it is better than paying out of pocket for it.

So, I got my car back a week ago or so, drove it home and mid way it started grinding 2nd again. So, I took it back in and...GM is sending a whole new Tranny for install. All under warranty of course. So, Finally new tranny.

Its **** like this that is ridiculous

They try to rebuild a transmission that is touted as non-rebuildable, then its jacked up again and they have to replace it anyway. Absurd lol

Should buy a replacement clutch and have them swap it in real quick lol

Do your clutch too if it hasn't been changed. GM charges like 10 hours labour for a clutch install...I did mine while my warrantied one was being put in, even though my stock clutch was still good. Also maybe consider TOB at the same time.

tell them you want a NEW tranny! Rebuilding the tranny will cause a whine , due to new and used parts going into the tranny.

No money for clutch right now, the wife just had major surgery. It would have been a good idea though.

I wish they would have replaced the transmission the first time however, they said they did what GM advised, and we wonder why they are in so much trouble!

Nope I have a Black 4 door SS. I have not seen many SS around lately either. I am wondering if most SS these days are in the shop or wrapped around a telephone pole.
