Splitting Trans from Bellhousing

Anyone know how to Split the Transmission from the Bellhousing. I have taken every bolt holding the two together out, and tryed prying it apart i moves approx. 1/4 inch, then when i took the pry bar out it snaps back together like there is something inside holding it together still.

I am trying to replace the Bellhousing, because it is cracked where it bolts to the front tranny mount. I already have the new bellhousing.

Did you make sure to unbolt and remove the intermediate axle shaft that runs along the back of the block?

Other than that, get a bigger prybar, or start wiggling and pulling at the same time. Just be ready to catch when it breaks loose. As long as nothing is still connected it should just fall out.

you need to pull the gears off the end of thee tranny... if you take the cap off (towards drivers side) there are I think three gears you need to pull to take the casing apart...

I don't see a bell housing in the manual, it looks like it is part of the transmission. Here is the clutch install procedure. Sorry if this isn't what you need, but I am a body man, not a mechanic and I don't know how to find some of this stuff in Service Information.

Sorry, I have a 2.4 with automatic.
Here is the MU3
None of this really looks like what 06REDSS/SC is looking for, but maybe it will help. I can't find trans disassembly in SI.

Clutch Drive Plate and Clutch Driven Plate (MU3)
Tools Required
J 43482 Clutch Alignment Arbor

Removal Procedure
Remove the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement .

Remove the clutch cover bolts one turn at a time, until spring pressure is relieved.

Remove the clutch cover and the clutch disc.
Installation Procedure

Install the clutch disc and the clutch cover.
Hand start the clutch cover to flywheel bolts, leaving the clutch cover loose enough to reposition for alignment.

Install the J 43482 in order to support the clutch cover to the flywheel assembly.

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

Tighten the clutch cover to flywheel bolts in the sequence shown.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 30 Nˇm (22 lb ft).

Recheck each bolt torque using the tightening sequence.
Remove the J 43482 .
Important: Excessive amounts of lubricant on the input shaft splines may contaminate the clutch disc and cause clutch shudder.

Lubricate the inside diameter of the bearing with Saturn P/N 21005995, or equivalent.
Install the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement .
Bleed the hydraulic system. Refer to Hydraulic Clutch Bleeding .
Connect the negative battery cable.
