I left mine on to hold up the boot for now (I think it looks better this way, you doen't have the hole at the bellow the knob showing). You can also ziptie the boot to the shifter shaft (without the RLO) with a small piece of hose below the boot to hold the it up (I will do this when i get a new knob). The spring goes between the kbod and the RLO. The pin and c-clip replace the plastic pin.

The RLO is aluminium.

It looks just like ebay shifter and has RLO. Doen't take it the wrong way, I like it. I just think you could have saved $30 and got the same quality.

meh it's made for my car so i'll see what happens... if thats the case where i could've spent 30$ less oh well.. i'll say having instructions and something specifically for my car being worth 30$

most of the ebay shifters i found looked like pclears... (not all metal) according to them it doesn't have RLO .. but it looks like it does so *shrugg*

The lockout just doesn't work on our cars. as for instuctions for the Ion, you can use the TWM site it has them. I have had 2 ebay Cav. shifters and both were all metal. All that matters is YOU are happy with your shifter. If you want to get rid of the RLO knock the pin out and slide it off. I think the plastic on the Pcear is to make it fit SS/SC IDK. Pics after install?

The pin is in the slot in the RLO. you can see it in the pic of your GF(?) holding the shifter

Not on our 2.4 because the tranny/clutch or w/e does not have the RLO option like the SS/SC so you cannot just magically produce one. It would only be for looks and completely useless.

On the Cav. the little metal piece that hang below the RLO hits the pastic shifter frame 'til you lift the RLO and it slides over the flame. On the Cobalt it doesn't hit the plastic so it doesn't work.

Mine still rattles sometimes but, the spring is there to keep pressure on RLO.

You can leave it on, it just doesn't do anything for us. If you want to remove it use a screwdriver to knock the pin out. the piece below the knob that slides into it is the RLO. I would remove the pin but still ues the RLO to hold up the boot. that will make it easier to remove the boot if needed later. It having the RLO is why I think it a Cavalier shifter. Why else would it have the RLO and say it doesn't? I think you paid $30 for instructions that you could have get free from TWM's site http://www.twmperformance.com/manual..._%20Manual.pdf I'm not haten, just trying to inform (you and others)

I think you can sand the purple off.
