LNF Cobalt Mild Tune Dyno Results
Well since I've bought a dyno I've been really busy with it, spending a lot of my free time playing around on it and working on local cars. I have a lot to post up in the coming few months, but I thought I better start somewhere!
This particular car is a friend of mine's that we just tuned a couple weeks ago. 2008 LNF with low miles, all stock when he bought it. He wanted GMS1, but I talked him into something a little more, with a custom tune. He wanted to make 300whp and mild tq and play it really safe, so I respected that and we set him up with a conservative tune with a smooth tq curve that should be plenty reliable for his car on a stock clutch with minor bolt ons. Nice thing is he can always crank it up more later...if I have any say
His mods are pretty basic. Intake, downpipe, upper charge pipe, and maybe a muffler delete (I don't remember)
The car runs 91 octane fuel.
Stock tune on those mods made 240whp and 256wtq.
We ended around 22psi with a taper off up top, very mild timing down low ramped to 15* up top, and .87 lambda.
Final numbers were 313whp and 341wtq. We then backed it down to 305whp/338wtq as per his request. And that is where it will stay for now.
Vs. stock tune
He will eventually get bit by the mod bug and we will crank it up a bit more

Now you're thinking! Although a 35kw would be massive overkill. You wouldn't need much more than a little 10kw unit for something like a dyno, and even that would be a little big.

But those are quiet and could actually power some high quality high flow fans to keep the underhood temps in check. And run his fridge and freezer, maybe a little range too then he can call it mobile dyno home tuning

Its not GMS1 mild by any means lol, but its definitely not ragged edge. Gotta remember we left it at 305whp/338 tq. Richened up .01 lambda and dropped 1.5* timing for the final tune at 305. Same boost. 22-23 psi mid range tapers off to 18ish IIRC. 8* on the hit and ramps to 15* on the glory pull graph above as boost drops and RPMs raise of course. My main reason for making the 313 pull was to show him that there was some cushion in there to push it farther without issue, and then backed it off for his peace of mind.
MILD mild would have been like 280, but that's not my style Customer/friend wanted 300, so I gave it to him lol. Just like how my car is "mild and conservative" when its down on 28 lbs at 575whp hehehe

Only problem is now he is losing to bolt on LS1 cars because he isn't used to pedaling 2nd gear and he needs some real tires I gave him **** when he called me to tell me he lost to a C5, told him what good is the power if he cant drive it :P Haha fun to give him a hard time.

Suspension and tires make all the difference. My friend with a 350whp TVS setup got rid of his NT555's and just got the same tires as me and he can't spin 2nd at all no matter what anymore, and even 1st hooks really well now.
