Sorry for having missed this previously, but what tire are you running?

Tire rack show these;
Toyo

One of them looks to be bad for anything short of hot/warm, dry, and spotless pavement...

Infra's running the Toyo R888's.

I still can't mat it in 1st with my 245/40/17 BFG Rival's, and my IRL is pretty much stock too. Surprised that the R888's are that much better.

Absolutely right that most cars need a driver upgrade before car/power upgrade... it's so much more obvious on the road course

Yep R888's. Most people overlook the suspension as well. That's just about as important as the tire. On stock suspension it'll squat under load and transfer so much weight that just about any tire will struggle. Even with my friend Trevor's 350whp TVS Redline on the same tires as me he spins 1st just a little bit and hooks 2nd every time on a clean road, and he just has springs.

Damm, I should probably make suspension my next mod, I always thought the Rival's should be a little gripper in a straight line than they are, especially with how they handle corners.

What are you running for suspension again?

I've got Pedders xA coilovers, hardcore rear sway bar, and rotated mounts. Seems to be a good setup.

Taylor dont you also run 17s so you'll have a bit thicker sidewall?

Yeah I have 17's, but not just for that reason. I just prefer the 17's on the Redline, 18's on balts.
