15 inch sub anyone?

Hey I'm wondering if anyone has a 15 inch sub in their cobalt and I want to know a bit about the box they have it in..

I really want to get one 15" FI BL and build a nice custom box for it, what do you guys think?

i would do a 12 over the 15. the proper size for a ported box for a 15 is just a wee bit too big to work properly in the cobalt

noo i wish i had gotten a 15 instead of 12, i just didnt have the trunk room for a ported 15

idk if the BL requires as much space as the BTL, so you might be able to get it to fit

the airspace requirement from the bl and btl is very similar. Its a little smaller (save some on port space, no double face and overall space) but not too much

If you made the box and a face like mine has to seal off the trunk and have it facing forward that would be a nice loud setup. Otherwise a 12 will be a much better option

Damn it would be such a hard fit to get a 15" into a cobalt trunk. With the jl 13w7 in its to spec box, all the back seats had to be remove and i had to use my legs to push it through the opening. I would bet it would be possible, I'd be worried about having enough high clearance for a 15" sub though. Either way, good luck.

Here is a photo of mine installed, not so much room for height. I'll take another pic later today from the inside to show height problem.

RE MX 15" in custom box

Diameter of 12 spoke 15" basket (on all fi woofers) 15.625”, MX basket 16"

when you try hard enough you can make alot of things "fit" doesn't mean its a good idea

bl will sound better then L7 hands down... assuming u have good custom boxes for each setup spl will be

on 1500w 1 bl 12 < 2 L7 12s
on 2000w 2 bl 12s > 2 L7 12s
on 1500w 2 bl 12s ~= 2 L7 12s (hard to say)

i have an RE SX12 in a slot box i made to spec(even though RE is a little ff with there specs), and a hifonics 1000/1 rms amp and that thing pounds, but i destroyed my sub by putting too much **** in the trunk and i now have a whole in the sub and the rubber foam surround has gashes and **** in it, so at somepoint im going to upgrade to the next step, what ever that is at the time im looking to buy, but i highly reccomend RE products......

port through your rear deck and you should be able to have enough airspace for the 15 but its a bitch to make the box

FYI the sub can be reconed at any point to bring it back to new condition.

sorta not really... the original owners of RE were scott and david... they sold the company and scott made FI, david later started the team PSI you see around making recones. when fi was still new most of the subs were very very similar to the RE ones but now theres a few diffrences (they are still similar in many ways thou) the current RE subs are still 90% the same as before scott left the company

I listen to a lot of rock and not as much rap. I dont listen to a lot of low bass. Though the DD 8's have impressed me with how low and how loud they can be for an 8. Theres a guy with a dodge ram that competes down at Mach 1 audio in washington at the sound offs and its a standard cab ram a custom 3 8 box and I think he said an 1100 watt amp. And he does low 140s all day long.

I did I moved back to kirkwood for now. And I believe he was tuned for 42hz but its been a while since i talked to him. The Free Air Resonance of those subs is 30 Hz though. But they do go a lot deeper than one would expect.

As far as my car still not much setting me apart. About to be lowered on eibach prokits... I have an led license plate light, tint and im debadged thats about it.
