has anybody with the 7 speaker pioneer system changed their factory radio to an aftermarket one, and if so, does the factory amp still work?

no, this is the trick about factory upgraded sound systems. Here's how it works in as lamens of terms as i can come up with. The Factory head unit puts out high frequency signals, which are converter by the amp to you highs/mids/lows by amps that are made for that specific application.
An Aftermarket Head unit however puts out low frequency signals which are designed to run on and normal speaker. Therefore, in order to installed an aftermarket head unit on a setup like this, you have to bypass the factory amplifiers, which usually involves rewiring the entire stereo system. We had to do this in my friend's Acura...NOOOOT fun

I installed and aftermarket headunit and everything still worked fine. No worries man just hook up your left and right, front and rear connections right and the stock amp will power everything fine.

I was worried about this too, plan on getting the Pioneer Z1 but someone told me I would have to get a new amp and all new speakers.
I think the stock Pioneer system sounds great and don't want to change anything.

Did you have to buy the pac radio replacement interface to allow the sub to work with the new head unit? Or does wiring the amp trigger wire into the new head unit allow the sub to work?
