engine noise coming through one speaker only.

I rearranged some wires today by the interior fuse box and now I have a constant engine noise coming from the front driver side speaker... I can't get it to go away what so ever. My RCAs are running down the pass side but they have to cross the interior fuse box therefore they are exposed to power wires which cause interference. I can upgrade the RCA's but that would be a huge pain in the ass. Anyone have any other suggestions? I have already tried shifting around the RCA's with no luck. Any help appreciated!

Thanks

I just went through this. I'll beat EmporerJJ to the big question. Is this a Pioneer head unit?

Its a kenwood. Ive tried grounding the RCA inputs to the HU chassis but it doesn't allow the RCA's to go in far enough to make a connection.

if its a kenwood then that isnt needed. just an "issue" with pioneer units.

since its only 1 RCA what happens if you flip the RCA's at the amp. does the noise change to the opposite side or stay where its at?

turns out I had pinched a RCA with one of the little 8mm trim retainers on the white plastic around the fuse box. To make things better I discovered that I have water leaking on my passenger floorboard! If its not one thing its the other... #blessed

Hang on a second lol.

Same problem I get a constant wine/hissing sound and even if I hit the power button on my headunit it is still present, Everything is stock. (I was thinking short to power in my door harness)

So if anyone has an idea that would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry about that. Drivers door speaker and tweet, They still play music though? So if I turn the music up loud enough you can't hear it anymore lol.

Ha I wish it would just go away, On the note I have pulled out my headunit and inspected the wires and nothing has been tampered with(car was purchased used) and nothing is loose.

hmm... i would lean towards the HU or something between HU and the amp. The tweet and speaker are are different channels on the amp so both going out or messing up isnt very likely. same with connection from Amp to speakers since they are seperate its less likely.

Thats a tough one good luck

Okay so rather than waste money, I will spend time on inspecting my wiring and go from there.

Another question where is the wiring from the hu to the amp routed? I'm hoping by the drivers side door since the amp and sub are on that side, Also its alot easier to access lol.

I have only had the car since last november and i never drove it in the winter lol So I haven't had to deal with it to long, But holy **** its annoying esp when you just want it to stop and hit the power button and it does stop and then comes back randomly and so on.

Thanks for all the help guys

Just an update, There wasnt any signs of wire damage or any connectors or pins damaged or out of place, So it looks like ill be picking up a headunit to see if this will fix my problem.

remember that the HU needs to be programmed for the car if you are going with a stock unit.

Thanks for the heads up man.

Also I noticed When I go to use my signal I will intermittently won't get the clicking sound and sometime I will. Will this help diagnose my HU or something else?

If everything goes as planned I should have a new HU next weekend, But well see what happens lol

On that note is this common problem ? The reason I ask is because if it is I would then like to avoid this problem and go aftermarket.

Thanks again man.

when that happens does the audio still work?

turn signal noises are made by the HU in 07+ cobalts so that could point to the HU being the issue. BUT if they the regular audio goes away as well then it could be anything along the chain (hu amp speaker or wires)

Yep it will still play music...lol it took a bit because my signals sound actually worked for the past 2 days lol until today they randomly crapped out on my lunch at work for a bit then came back, Also while my signals sound wasn't working the noise randomly start to come from the drivers speaker and tweeter for a bit and when I hit my signal arm the noise from the speaker and tweeter stopped? It did come back shortly after when I hit a bump? During all this my signal sound never came back, It all started working again when I started my car again when I left work about 3 hours later and continued to work till I got home?
