front door speakers not working??
I fired up the balt today since it's warm out and let it breathe. i was playing with the stereo a bit and no matter how i play with the settings, (fader, balance, volume, bass, treble, mid etc.) no sound comes out of the front door speakers. i can hear the tweeters and the back speakers as well as the sub. i always thought i was imaging things but some days i swore my stereo wasn't as loud as it used to be. it still sounds great but not 100%.
i can't see both speakers going..
anyone had this problem before? is there a fuse i could check? maybe a connection? or are my door speakers for show? lol

i dont think a fuse would only knock out your front speakers i would check wiring i have an aftermarket cd/dvd and sometimes i get weird squeeks out of one speaker i have to fonzy that **** hit hitting the leg panel under the stereo but when i pull my head unit and put it back it i get no squeeks for months so i guess some wires gett moved where they shouldnt be

It is extremely common for the front door speakers to get wet and fail. It is a bad design flaw. We see a couple cobalts a month that need them replaced at work. They may need replaced.

not happy. i hate pulling door panels off. things always get sratched, broken shifted when you do. nothing pisses me off more than when someone works on the inside of your door, breaks a door clip and doesn't replace it. then you have rattles later. also if they don't use the right tools there can be dents and scratches in the plastic where they had to pry.
ah well.
if it's not too hard to take off, i may try some dialectric grease on the connections first. even if these speakers are made in mexico, the connections shouldn't corrode THAT easily. my car is stored every winter.

Almost same problem on my '09. Right front dead, left front intermittent. Also the key chime and turn signal clicker use the front speakers for output so they don't sound either. Any additional ideas?

Bought the car with front door speakers blown, just replace them. It's super easy and they will sound a lot better. I've had kenwoods now for 6 months and the bass makes my mirrors shake.
It's a common issue I doubt it's anything electrical, water gets through the weatherstrip and ruins them. Just replace speakers.

well it depends on how often in rains. However with crossovers i would suggest either sealing them or moving asap. If they are in the outer portion of the door the best thing to do is move them to the inner portion of the door (which gets theoretically no water) or wrapping them in a plastic bag and taping the top aroudn the wires to prevent water from getting in as much as possible.

i gotta replace my speakers. anyone do this without breaking any clips or trim?
last time i had to take a door apart was 10 years ago and there were broken clips everywhere.

I even used a screwdriver and all I did was scratch some paint under the panel. Yours is newer so there shouldn't be much risk of the plastic clips becoming brittle yet.

My front speakers aren't working either but the turn signal and door chime still works, does that mean there is nothing wrong with the speakers but something wrong with the radio itself?

agreed^^ had the same problem around Christmas. Every speaker worked except the front two. Bought 2 new ones... easy install and work fine now.

Front speakers not working 2008 Cobalt
Both my front speakers were not working on the 2008 Cobalt I just bought. Found the connectors on both speakers were corroded. Cut out the connectors and soldered the wires to the speakers to correct the problem. Both work perfect now.
